2010 ms3 motor in a 2007 ms3

What's the difference if there is a difference between the genpu and genwon motors...
I'm looking to get a 2010 engine for my 2007 ms3. By engine I mean intake manifold, turbo, pulleys, exhaust manifold etc.

In other words, you want a long block for a Genpu.

The main difference is the pistons, rods, and the valve cover(oil fill cap).

The only thing that I can think of that might be different is the valve cover breather location.

Sent via stocked out for a while ...

You would need to swap out your power steering pump and use your wireing harness for the ground at the top of the pump, the pu's harness does not have it. Other then that its a direct fit.
Only other physical differences that matter are like stated before.

The gen2 long block will work just fine in a gen1. The block and accessory mounting positions didn't change. I did a swap like this last year with a brand new long block from mazda (2012 long block).

I haz. It works...

holeinmypocket 03-30-2013 12:08 PM

So I don't need to switch out power steering pumps?

Nope

The only thing I transfered was the VC and even that is workable. I just liked mine better.

holeinmypocket 03-30-2013 12:21 PM

How are the rods and pistons different that was mentioned above somewhere?

Gen 2 blocks dont have a pump at all, only a triangular mount with a pulley. The gen 1 have a full pump with lines running to and from.
If he is dropping a gen 2 block in he will need to take his pump from his original motor and put it on the new block.
If this is wrong then someone please explain why?

Only the face of the piston is different, its made to burn the fuel cleaner but the size and shape are identicle.

Long blocks don't have accessories, so he will have to use all of his.

My understanding is the rods are the same but the pistons have a dish built in on the top of the piston in a pu to devert some of the fuel back away from the rings reducing shearing

holeinmypocket 03-30-2013 03:05 PM

I'm getting a long block w manifolds, turbo, pumps, alternator, pulleys pretty much anything that is attached to the block from a 2010 ms3

Sid3wayS 03-30-2013 04:48 PM

^Thats what I had understood and the reason for my argument. Obviously a long block with no accessories you would use your own

In the op he says engine not long block.

mzr0818 03-30-2013 06:57 PM

He's looking at a complete engine.

Complete engine > Long block > short block > bare block.

holeinmypocket 03-30-2013 07:20 PM

Yes complete engine
