2nd Gear Whine
 

Ok I have searched and searched and cant quite find something that is what i'm experiencing.

My second gear developed a whine out of no where Saturday night. Literally I was driving, stopped the car, didn't even turn the car off, and went to drive off and second gear gave it a little throttle (50-60%) and distinctly heard a whine. Every time in second it does this now. The whine is similar to the sound of a supercharger, and decently loud, not screaming, but easily noticeable.

the first pull has the noise, in second, the next pull is in third what my car normally sounds like under WOT.

Vehicle mods are in my signature.
Thanks in advance for any help, Im about to go get a junkyard tranny, local place has one for 200$ with 25K miles.

EDIT: Also there is no grinding or popouts in any gears. and the noise ONLY comes from second.

When was the last fluid change for this vehicle?

Gear whine can happen for any number of things, usually from the friction modifiers wearing down in the fluid.

To be very honest, I would change the fluid and just ride it out. I think you are over-reacting from a little whining noise. I always had a whine in my 4th gear in my 2nd gen and my roommate gets whines in most of his lower gears in his 07.

Yeah, I will try fluid change, not sure the last time it was changed.
My only concern is the fact that it came out of no where.
Is the factory ford MotorCraft or Redline MTF better?
