Sounds like you're getting either boost or fuel cut. Do you have a dashhawk or dashdaq that can monitor the ecu parameters???

AFcadet 01-12-2010 01:54 PM

Is it violent? If its violent its boost cut. Which basically you need some type of tune. If you have an AP...you need to try a Stage 2 map. Basically there are some nanny's programed into the ECU..and one of them is called Boost cut. This is when you exceed a predetermined power setting, the ECU will cut the throttle hard to "save" the motor. But in all reality...the stock setting is to low. If you have basic bolt ons and get really cold weather you can hit this cut. Stage 2 on AP raises the levels so you won't get the cut.

Might also be fuel...if you don't have a upgraded fuel pump you could be running low on fuel...but loosing fuel is not really violent...and you sound like its pretty violent.

yeah its boost cut ur right i need to buy an AP asap i have the cobb fmic cobb intake dp test pipe blow off i havent tune so im pretty sure that what it is, but i dont have the full turbo back exhaust which on the cobb web site said its require to use the AP so idk....

AFcadet 01-12-2010 02:54 PM

yea you need to run a stage 2 map for sure. The intake and DP combo is whats causing it. Your getting alot more power with those 2. Get an Ap...run stage 2 map...and the cut will be gone.

yeah thanks man, what about the turbo back exhaust?

I'm pretty sure all you really need is the DP to run stage 2 as that's the single most restrictive part in the exhaust system. The stock catback is pretty decent. I tried running stage 2 with my mods and my fuel pump wasn't keeping up.

oh shit dont tell me that about the fuel pump :/ would i run into the same problem?

Nigelo 01-12-2010 04:41 PM

I've had both midrange stutter and higher rpm cut, fuel pump internals are coming and once they're in I'll see if both problems persist. I've got an Sri, test-pipe and piasini remap, so I'd hope it wouldve raised the boost cut level. If not, I'll be back to piasini to get the map fixed!

If you're going to be running a stage 2 map you should defiantly consider fuel pump internals.

AFcadet 01-12-2010 06:28 PM

Like someone else said...the biggest factor when it comes to stage 2 is the DP. You said you have a test pipe too...so your good. The CBE might wield a little gain...but it would mostly be for sound.

When you go stage 2...it will get rid of the boost cut...but then you will find your going to run into fuel problems where pressure will not be able to hold.

So your kind of in a pickle. Either dont get an AP and wait untill the temps warm up. Or get an AP and run stage 2, but also get a FP upgrade/internals.

To be completley honest...I'd really suggest you get an AP and fuel pump upgrades. Primarily for 2 reasons.

1. You will be able to run in all weather conditions without running into fuel problems or boost cut.

2. You will get the FULL potential of power out of your mods. Your loosing a decent amount of power without a tune with your mods. Hense...why you need a fuel pump upgrade when you run stage 2. Because stage 2 will inject quiet a bit more fuel (more power).

So i'd suggest getting fuel pump upgrade along with an AP.
