Well ACT was installed yesterday. Have roughly 100 miles on her thus far, and I can honestly say the prolite isn't half bad as what I was told. Actually took a little video to show there's pretty much no chatter, and though engagement takes a little more focus and finesse, it's absolutely livable, and definitely worth the $.

Have a bud with a streetlite, so we're going to swap cars and see if there's really any noticeable difference. Thing shifts butter smooth though, but I can see all ready stop and go traffic indeed will be a bitch lol....requires slightly more revs to take off smoothly, otherwise you get an abrupt engagement, or like the mechanic you just stall lol, but being brand new to it it's a learning process for where to bring the revs to get it moving smoothly....very satisfied with it overall though, plus it looks tits

I'd tell those people on the fence to take the leap, definitely worth the performance increase. Definitely revs more freely, and though it will take some time to get it butter smooth, it can be absolutely be done

Even with the heavier streetlite flywheel stop and go traffic is cumbersome...nature of a 6 puck

Hmm after putting on about 7000 miles on my ACT 6 puck/streelite combo it actually seems to be performing better, I ease into engagement at around 2000rpm ie not dropping it if I do a launch, but yeah it suck ass in traffic, I have lost track of how many times I have been screamed at intersections or flipped off in parking lots while blipping the throttle to smooth out engagement and people evidently think I 'am revving my engine at them as to say "get the fuck out of my way"/lol

Does the pedal assembly tend to break often?

didn't you just ask this same question in the Snapped Clutch Assembly thread?

Snapped Clutch Pedal Assembly

Why don't you stop posting and fucking read!

If there's a whole thread about it, doesn't it make sense that it's happened before to other people?

Mine is at about 29k on the 6puck. Works fantastic. I love it. Only thing is the last 5k or less I've noticed that it's not engaging from a start until the very top of the clutch pedal travel. I did have the brake/clutch reservoir cap crack and fluid leak out and had to refill the tank some. Maybe that has led to some air in the lines.

At least I hope that's it.

Did you ever resolve this? I have about 15k on mine and my engagement has moved to the top of of the clutch pedal travel as well.

I ended up rebleeding the system and it came back to midway. Also helped a lot with pedal feel. I will probably do it again once it gets nice out since it was 10 degrees this most recent time.

20k on mine so far. Replaced the space cylinder once because it was leaking held fine ever since. I know its going to go out again at some point so I need to buy a spare haha.

Any updates on mileage? Replaced my clutch with another stock one last year 17k ago and it's slipping again. Can't imagine putting another stock one in so trying to make sure the life of the 6 puck is worth it.

Had mine installed at 56,688 miles on 9/17/12, I am approaching 66k now but half of those miles are road racing miles, 0 problems so far.

Mine finally bit the ghost at around 100k on it. Might have been the slave cylinder going out though, cause it popped when we were bleeding the lines.

I meant no insult to you. In fact, I am impressed with your footwork since you kept the clutch in good health that long. I have a ms6 with plans to build the motor and install a 3076, so there is no way in hell my 6-puck will last as long as it did in your car. I want to launch it often, otherwise there is no point in having the awd.

I dont think I ever put my luck with the ACT 6 puck and streetlite flywheel in here.

It last about 4000 miles @ 478whp/450wtq. It had a total of 6 passes at the dragstrip n slicks.

In the end the rivets on the disc were ground into the flywheel. Replaced with a twindisc.

I was between the twindisc and the Kentucky Clutch. I have heard good things about both, but the KY clutch is cheaper and a more conventional design.

Oh, no insult taken. Didn't know if you needed an opinion on how b it handles higher power. Currently sitting at Mazda thanks to the clutch line retaining clip failing on the way to work.

Any of you guys ever have the 6puck redone by act along with resurfacing the flywheel? If so, how well did that work out?

Have to agree that the prolite fw is really not as bad as I thought it would be. Its still early days for me. Will be doing plenty of launches on my speed6. Currently pushing around 28psi and done around 20 passes if not more. Still good so far.

I have had the prolite fw for 3+ years and 40k+ miles. I really didn't think it was very uncivilized at all...

With the CM, South Bend, KY, LuK/Fidanza competition out there, this still looks like the best bet for some spirited driving on anything under 30psi. Any more input on longevity before I stash one of these away for the inevitable clutch failure?

At about 45K miles mine was about done. It still had maybe 5K of life left on it.

my first 6 puck with the prolite went in around 56k. i replaced it with a new 6 puck at 102k since the motor was being swapped but this time i went with a streetlite fw. the first 6 puck never gave me any issues, only damage that it caused was to my pedal but that issue has been taken care of

So, thoughts/updates on streetlite vs prolite? My brain tells me streetlite, but my right foot tells me prolite.

I am probably going to need a clutch in the next 10k or so, and I want to be ready. Even though there are some "Fuck ACT" on this board, it still seems like the best bang for the buck clutch, pp, and fw.

My car is my dd and stays 100% on the street, but I do drive quite aggressive, and downshift a lot when braking/stuck in traffic. The idea of having not quite so much rotational mass sounds like a plus for me in that regards. Probably won't end up going 6-puck though and I probably won't ever go past being fully bolted, so I won't need the extra torque capacity.

*Edit

Also, did any of you use the ACT T/O bearing and pilot bearing? I know the stock T/O bearing is noisy! If not, what did you end up running with?

If you don't spend a lot of time in bumper to bumper traffic, I would go with the pro-lite. You can barely tell the difference between them.

You have to go 6 puck either way.

I used whatever was included in the kit. It is noisy as fawk either way.

I wouldn't really classify it as being stuck in traffic a lot (compared to LA or New York, or something crazy like that) but I am in bumper to bumper traffic for at least 5-10 minutes at least once a day, sometimes twice.

Why do you have to go 6 puck either way? Their site shows a listing for a single sprung disc, visually similar to stock...
