ACT pressure plate, "Must use with ACT Flywheel (not included)"

I'm in the market for a new clutch and was thinking about getting an ACT but I don't personally care about getting a lightweight flywheel in the package deal that costs $450 more than just the pressure plate and disc.

But when you click on the "BUY" button on their website this disclaimer pops up:
"Must use with ACT Flywheel (not included)"

I was about to call the company but decided I would ask here first seeing as how the company will more then likely say I "need" their flywheel anyways.

Thanks

You need to use their flywheel, package is around $660 if you find the right place. Make sure you get the newer model as they updated the ones for the MS3/MS6 recently.

every package deal I see is for $900

They released new models (ZX5 instead of ZX4) with updated pressure plates and flywheel. I don't think nobody has tried that one as it was released this month...

What would you go with instead SPEC?

The bad thing about SPEC is I don't think they sale replacement discs, not to mention according to their website the stage1 and stage2 clutches are only rated at 295 and 340 torque capacity.
(the stage2+ would be a decent option but the cheapest I found it for was $739, and would I have to buy there $499 flywheel too?)

So whats left? Exedy, they don't make one for the MS3. Neither does Clutch Masters or Centerforce.

R.MS3 03-22-2011 10:03 AM

Clutch masters is supposedly making one for our cars but that's probably a while to go.

Your options right now are the new ACT and back to stock clutch/flywheel.

With the warranty, i would try the new ACT but if it screws up on you, it's labor price out the window. Take your chances and make your choice.

What about "ZOOM" clutches?
Does anyone know if they have clutches for the MS3?

Just to check on some price differences I called Advance Auto and they quoted me $215 on a Perfection clutch kit with a limited lifetime warranty.

I've never heard of Perfection before so I got to there website and they have a performance line of products called ZOOM. Apparently there product guide isn't working right now so I couldn't check and see if they had anything in the ZOOM series, but hell for $215 for the oem replacement and the guy at Advance told me I could get a replacement anytime it messed up I don't see how I can go wrong unless its just complete crap.

Has anyone ever used one of these?

You really don't want to put crappy parts in your car do you? Our clutch system is different than most others due to a dual mass flywheel so what they're selling is most likely clutches for the reg.3 or crappy parts for our cars...

Will be in my hands very soon. Should be completed this week and I already have a pending order. I offer new OEM set ups with upgraded discs for increased clamp load and decreased cost over SPEC as well. Just a thought.
