One correction - E85 has 85% Ethanol blend.

In Canada at least the blend you get at the pump is blended at the pump. The gas station only has 2 fuel types - low octane and high octane. All the octane levels you can buy are a blend of the 2 types found at the station. I find that some stations blend worse than others - ie don't keep the proportions right and a 94 octane fuel can detonate worse than a 91 octane in the states (for example).

here in the EU your not allowed to blend at the pump. so you have a euro95 stocktank and Euro98 stocktank.

and your correct E85 is 85% Ethanol and 15% Nafta based Fuel. sorry my small error

iam trying to get some of the stuff that they use to boost the Octane. but its difficult cause i dont know any one who works at those parts of the refineries at BP or Shell or ESSO

i want to boost the fuel and see what it does the knock retard in the car! and than not boosting to Euro100 or 102 but to Euro120+ i know it possible cause i heard from a guy who did it and he could boost his EVO9 to 2.5Bar (36PSI) on a garret GT30 not sure what type exactly... and it still ran smooth he said! so....

as soon as i get my hands on that stuff ill be posting my finds

...... in for wild knock experiment.

I want to disconnect my knock sensor entirely, tune normally on a dyno, and then hook it back up and see how much it registers. My guess is that our knock sensor is quite over sensitive, esp considering its able to pick up a 2 count pulling away from a stop light, part throttle, in vacuum....

DJ-
if no knock sensor.. the computer wouldnt pull timing.. correct ??
my buddys with 400hp honda's.. the tuner they all go to uses a hose ( kinda like aircompressor hose ) hooked to earmuffs ( hearing protection style ) the hose he hooks to the engine somewhere and the hose is hooked to the headphones.. LOL.. funny i know but honda's dont have knock sensors so thats how he listens .. i guess its kinda like a sthethoscope like a doctor uses.. i know crazy huh ??
but he does all the fast honda's in town all 380-460 hp.. one single cam honda makes 420 hp ( on pump gas ) !! wow..
just a idea if you go with no knock sensor........

It's even easier when you have a knock sensor, and there are lots of kits out there. He uses an air hose (like stethoscope), but all we'd need is an audio amplifier and regular head phones.

Gizzmo KMon Knock Monitor & Analysis

Recording Knock

I'm actually gonna do just this as well, and planned on listening to the knock sensor (and recording it) while i tune with it unplugged.

I also want to hook an FFT oscilloscope to it and see exactly what frequency our blocks knock at, and try to see if there are other signals that crop up at various rpm's like injectors or who know's what.

All in due time
