Another clutch slave problem..

I've researched enough to see these guys go bad quite a bit. But I keep coming across threads with "search noob" which is why I'm forced to start a new one. Plus it seems like people have more problems than I do or they did something else to mess them up.

Basically went to start my car, clutch sunk to the floor with almost no effort. Doesn't spring back. Looked under the car, saw the red boot leaking.
I had some stuff to do over the weekend, so its been leaking for two days. Now I'm under the car taking a look, but I'm nervous to start ignorantly unbolting and taking it apart seeing how there's fluids involved.

Can I get some more insight and info on the subject? I'll have some help bleeding lines and such from someone who knows how to, but until then I'm on my own.

Pull the red boot back from the slave cylinder. See if there is a plastic ring floating in there. If there is, try pushing it back into the slave cylinder. It should clip in.

Before I could see what was what, the spring popped the whole whole thing out, which makes me assume the black plastic ring wasn't clipped in. The red boot had a lot of fluid in it that I slowly drained out before it popped off. I got it all put back together, I had left the clutch pressed to floor and didn't move it. Should I be able to start her right up? Will I need to add fluid or bleed the system? Again, ignorant as hell when it comes to hydraulics and such. Just don't want to fuck anything up.

If the clutch is staying on the floor I would say you need a bleed at a minimum.

Damn, I saw you have to bleed the clutch before doing the breaks, but do I have to do the breaks if I just want to do the clutch?

You can just do the clutch but depending on the age/condition of the current fluid a full flush wouldn't hurt.
