Exclamation Anyone else's CP-E mount look like this after about a year of use?

I've had this CP-E rear transaxle mount on the car for just under a year. I put my car back to stock recently for a dealer visit, and upon removing it noticed quite a bit of wear and tear.

Now, I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say that this is a part failure but this is definitely more wear than I expected to see.

Other side:

The condition of the "spacers":

Has anyone else experienced this, or is my mount the exception?

This is the 60 durometer version.

Damn, that's a little rough. Have you called CP-E about this? Those guys are great with customer service. I just put mine in a little while ago, but I'll be sure to keep an eye on it down the road.

I just purchased a CP-E RMM "60" duro and it came with "CR 65A" imprinted on the rubber. This was from the very latest batch, purchased 5/28/10, directly from cp-e. My other 75 duro RMM has "EPDM 75A." I wonder if they were having these issues with softer rubber and decided to bump up the hardness.

Good to know. I'll have to do some periodic inspections to mine. This car definitely beats the shit out of motor mounts.

So did you get the 60 durometer version again or go with a stiffer replacement.

I got the 75, would it be stiff enough to avoid this? If not, I may be switching to a TRZ race mount later.

This isn't a common occurrence. As with any production run sometimes this kinda thing happens but that's why we offer lifetime warranties.

...and to answer the question, I haven't decided.

I currently live in FL and use my AC almost all the time, but I'm probably going to be moving back to the midwest this fall so the vibrations with the AC on may be less of an issue then...

I don't really want any more vibrations than I had with the 60 with the AC on at idle, and the 60 seemed to be stiff enough (from a driveability standpoint) for the power level of my car (Cobb intake, TIP, AP), so considering the thing has a lifetime warranty, I'll probably be getting the 60 again.

I wouldn't worry about getting the 75 instead of the 60. After mine was broke in, the vibrations were barely more noticeable than the stock mount.

Well I certainly noticed them with the 60, so I find it hard to believe that I would notice the stiffer variety any less.

Now, don't get me wrong, it was perfectly tolerable with the 60, but I don't think I want any more vibration...and it seems to me that the 75 couldn't possibly provide the same amount or less vibration than the 60.

You're correct. There will be more vibration with the 75. I doubt that it will be THAT much more than the 60 though. But I went straight from stock to the 75, so just ignore me

I do, but I can't remember how much the vibrations were with the a/c on with the stock mount. That's really only at idle anyway.

That is exactly what mine looks like. I was having some bad clunks when starting, I thought it was one of the other stock mounts. I put the stock one back in and the clunk went away and I then noticed the cracks in my cp-e 60 duro mount.
I'll calling CP-e for a replacement - CP-e is a great company and I know they'll take care of me.

On a related note, I had forgot how quiet my car is with the stock mount, no more vibrations, especially with the AC on. I occasionally race the car, so I don't want to take chances with all stock mounts.
I'll keep supporting CP-e.

Now, I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say that this is a part failure but this is definitely more wear than I expected to see.

Has anyone else experienced this, or is my mount the exception?

This is the 60 durometer version.

Is there any way to easily raise the idle 100 RPM on the MS3? Wouldn't this make the vibrations with the A/C on go away?

Take a look at this thread.

It's not an isolated incident.

I've seen 3 defective mounts from 3 different cars, all purchased at different times.

It's easy as pie with an Accessport and AccessTuner Race.

I've been talked into giving the 75 a try with my replacement, and that's my plan. If I can't tune around the vibrations to my satisfaction though, I'll probably be going back to the 60...

I'm optimistic though.

Update:

Received my mount back today with a new bushing pressed in.

Probably won't get it put in until after the coming weekend...

I wanted to update this thread with some observations I hadn't ever realized I didn't put here (even though I'm sure I've mentioned it in other threads)...

The 75 durometer mount actually transmitted less vibration to the cabin than the 60 did (as odd as that may sound). I suppose it has something to do with the car's inherent resonance (and who knows?? maybe it is a phenomenon unique to my particular MS3) or something to that effect, but at any rate, I think it is something worth noting.

At any rate, I've since moved on to one of the "newer" Stage 2 rear mounts which, in my opinion, is the best RMM on the market for this car (due to it's revised bushing orientation).

My replacement 75 durometer Stage 1 mount was still going strong when I took it off ~15 months after it went in.
