| Not Ranked : 0 score Looking at the carnage at home on my own computer that has a decent lcd monitor. the degree of rattle this thing must have been experiencing is pretty bad. The tops of those pistons, which looked even grey-black and plain at work show clearly at home to have been pounded pretty badly. I'm thinking the piston shattered FIRST here. That would be, oddly enough, a testament to the strength of the rotating assembly. i.e., when subjecting to the incredible forces of det or pre-ignition, the piston is the thing that gave way first. So it's bang, hole one dead, other three still going, flailng remains of 1's piston and rod have a party in the crankcase. BTDT.... Waddya think? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have no doubt this thing was detonating - esp if he heard it. It's hard to tell what are detonation marks and what are parts of the broken piston from the pics though. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score It's the heavy scouring of the piston carbon in the centre that kind of gives it away for me. The chunks of aluminium, as you say, could be frag from the blast but, they'd have a tough time migrating to other cylinders, even with a rod putting a leg out of the bed. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score HOLY EFF..........!! Hearing everyone saying "Hey mine blew up too!", "hey me too!" and "yeah, mine too!" scares the shit out of me. I dont know if I want to even TOUCH this car with any kind of mod. What the HELL??? Are these cars really that "blowupable"??? The Caliber SRT-4 I had may have been ugly but at least I didn't have to worry about THIS!!! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Don't be a pansy. Look into these latest blowup threads and you'll find all had serious precipitating action by current or previous owners. Boom was inevitable. If what was done to the car in this thread was done to the fugly Calibre, it would blow up just as well. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hole, how's the build going? I'll try to get some pics of my blow up disaster to share this coming week. They pulled the engine today and John with PTP said he is going to work with me on the price of a short block. I will know more tomorrow. I was getting some kr before the fuel pump install a couple weeks ago which everyone thought was normal. Then after the fuel pump 6.5 at around 3500rpms in every gear and 1-2 at wot which was supposed to be tuned out today actually. Had to do the break in before the tune adjustment the engine just did not make it. Hope everything working out for ya bro, I'm in the same boat. Just paid a shit ton of money a couple months ago to mod the car and finally had the tune almost 100% and now this crap.

So i still need to get a ATP Inlet, FMIC, Tuning solution, get PG Mani setup for EWG, FORGED INTERNALS, Tial EWG, and a bunch of other shit for the motor..... Unfortunately being laid off for a long while doesn't help so i will have to do all of this with my unemployment check. I expect to be up and running maybe in July. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Remember that you get direct fuel spray on the piston crown that removes deposits an carbon - this is the pattern you seen. I don't see too much out of the ordinary there without a real close-up. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah but, isn't the injector side mounted on this motor? That should produce a fan shape to any scouring action, this is rippin' right from centre out....You're right though, without a real close up in fine detail, hard to be sure. |
