Default Boom this shit sucks

Last night I loaded up the new 103 map onto my car did about 60 miles 4 key cycles and did a few data logs. Car ran great no cut afr's in the 12s little .4 to .7 knock that i always see. I drove to school today did my work and on the way home I went to my favorite spot by my school to do a 3rd gear data log.

Heres what happened I'm in third waiting for my dashhawk to give me the go. It starts recording so I slowly start to accelerate all the sudden at 3900k or so I hear this really loud poof and then some bad noise. I immediately pull over and turn the car off, I thought I threw a rod. After looking under the hood and under the car no oil no holes. I try to start the car it starts, with a really horrible choppy idle with some noises that are hard to explain. Almost like theres something rattling around. I also got a 3rd cylinder misfire cel.

and this was with meth spraying out of my d03 nozzle. My controller was set to start at 12psi and full at about 17 18 psi.

If I blew a rod could it not have gone through the block, maybe my piston ring is fucked? I will most likely start pulling the motor. Thanks for any help.

Heres the data log sorry it's a little blurry it's the only way I could get it up here.

Im no good at reading these things but that fuel pressure is all over the place. What happened with the rpms too?! And that knock? Jesus thats a crazy log. I dont know if you should turn it back on but a video of the sound might help ID the problem.

Before you pull off the head, do a compression test might help you pin point the problem

Not really... no offense to the OP, but the scaling on the fuel pressure just isn't great. Notice the lowest reading of the fuel pressure was 1650 PSI, the highest being around 1850 PSI. That seems fairly normal in my opinion...

The other PIDS are also poorly scaled. To the OP, try right clicking on the scales on either side of the graph and clicking "Zoom to Fit" -- it generally does a good job of scaling.

Also, is that the whole log? What bothers me is pretty much every other PID: The RPMS, at least in the graph, violently goes up and down, you get a knock retard of 6° at high boost, and your AFR goes pretty high.

Oh, not that the PID you're logging is bad, but if look under the Mazda PIDs, there should be a Actual AFR PID. I log this for AFR... maybe it doesn't matter.

If you need someone to host the image, PM me; I've got lots of web space. Or, if you need help with formatting your graph, let me know. I've spent more time in the DashHawk Data Logger View than I should probably admit.

Do a compression test. That's the first step. If you're going to pull the head, you might as well pull the motor. Pulling the motor takes about 3 hours and will make the tear down sooo much easier.

Huge KR right before your rpms started leveling off. Fuel pressures are fine; just the scaling is odd, so it looks funny. Interested in seeing if you had any damage (hopefully not!).

i've had a boost leak before that caused a misfire so i'm almost betting this is what happened. it is idling rough because of the leak so in boost you are losing the air and in vacuum you are pulling in unwanted air.

Problem is, to me, the boost scale is too blurred to read well, but it looks like he spikes to about 20 PSIg, and then drops off a little bit. The bottom of the boost scale is maybe 18.5 PSIg it looks like? Isn't that kind of spike pretty much normal for a stock/lightly modded car? Unfortunately, since the scaling is so off, we don't know what happens once it drops below 18.5 PSIg -- does it drop through the floor, does it taper off?

It's hard to analyze the log because the scaling is terrible and the resolution to far too low. Respectfully ask the OP to provide a better scaled graph and higher resolution screenshot.

Heres a better log rescaled. I checked all the hoses everywhere, on the out side the motor is fine I started it this morning and it started right up just ran real choppy and has that noise on the left side of the motor maybe timing related idk? Im taking to my shop now to pull the plugs and do a compression test i'll keep you guys updated.

pressure test the entire system from the intake filter to the TB

if its ok do a compression test, if not fix the problem

if ok pull the pan and check your rods, if not pull the motor

you might have even put a hole in one of the couplers, i would inspect all hoses very carefully. when you say left side of motor do you mean driver side or passenger side cause it depends on which way you are looking at it.

maybe you did something to a sparkplug as well. never know.

Correct me here if Im wrong ..... of all the threads I have read about blown motors .... has ANY OF THEM not had any ECU tuning .... it seems to me there is a pattern here of motors blowing with the tunes on them .. just curious are there any blows without the tunes?

i would check the turbo inlet, intake and the boost tubes. with meth flowing, you wouldnt even see KR for one. So, im going with the inlet or boost tubes.

I pulled my plugs and sure enough cylinder three the plug was saturated in oil. I took a drop light and looked into the cylinder and it was a reflection of my light so there is a good amount of oil in there.

This sounds similar to what happened to IDRVSLO..... I think he determined that he bent a rod causing the extra noise, then threw the rod out of the block a week or 2 later. Might want to go read that thread.

Yea it looks like I have a bent rod explains the noise. I guess I'll pull the oil pan off and have a look then take it from there.

Meth was supposed to prevent this, looks like it just saved a hole in my block.

Check timing components first.

The compression test will tell you if you dropped a valve - that would explain the oil.

No, every AP has a tune on it.... the device isn't what's causing problems, it's the tune and the user.

if your meth was actually spraying, you wouldnt be seeing that crazy KR for one...

So, what is the turn on point for the methanol? What was the outside temps? Which map was it?
