Boom story Pt 2 So...i know I havent been on in a while but i'd thought i'd give my favorite forum an update on my boom. For those that dont know what happened to my motor here is the initial thread http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...tml#post131687 Now I finallly got the funds needed for the repair (roughly 4k) and the swap is going to be done this week. I will take o so many pics of the damage done to my original motor. Yes guys my warranty did get voided and branded and everyone blamed not my mani but my exhaust. I know i know but whats the point of arguing with them. Im just happy that i got to talk to the mechanic at mazda who wanted to make some money on the side and is doing the work for me. Thank God for mazda not paying they're employees well.:nono: If you have any questions guys about this motor blowing process feel free to ask because the last couple weeks since UFC 92.:rippedhand: |
are you rebuilding stock or forged? |
Sorry to hear it went boom, but I am glad to hear it is getting fixed!! So what was happening? What were you doing? Gear? RPM? Mods? Boost? Fuel problems? If you don't want to explain everything, I understand. Just curious into what is happening to people. I am definately interested in your pictures. Good luck! |

Well I was on 95 (highway) going about 75MPH in 6th gear car sputtered which was normal due to my fuel cut issue but motor couldnt take the stress and BOOOOOOOM! pulled car over and rod was on the floor. lol. So im just gonna take off one mod and thats the PG mani v2 which pushed my stock FP over the edge so i'll keep everything but PG mani n put the shitty coiled looking stock mani back on... |
your exhaust? as in your dp/rp combo? or did you have a cbe too? just curious. thanks for all the info. What concerns me about these blown engines is it seems like its starting to be guys who have been on the forums for a while, who have some idea of whats what, when it's some kid who has 3 posts you feel way less concerned than when someone who knows whats up throws a rod. |
your rebuilding stock? r u kidding? it would prob be cheaper to rebuild with AM rods and pistons. you better rethink this dude. your already dropping 4k. |
You have to realize that a fuel pump not keeping up with boost will NOT cause your car to "sputter" when cruising. There's so much bs revolving around how these engines bite the dust, it's hard to trust anyone knows what they're talking about. Quote:

ya i don't care what anyone says, sorry bout your luck dude but half the shit posted about blown motors on these forums is bs. I personally like the "i was just cruising around and boom" I simply don't buy that bullshit. Car sputtered just randomly? You didn't load the car up in 6th gear? More to the story i think ;) P.S. for 4K don't build stock motor. am rods/pistons would be good |
+1 this car won't sputter because of the fuel pump just while cruising, the only time i know of people who get the stutter/sputter is when they punch it, that's when the fuel pump fails. but if you are going to rebuild you might as well go big or go home. why build a stock block, you'd be better off finding a good motor that was salvaged, not building it and just dropping it in. |
you can rebuild it forged for alotttt cheaper. |
Yea, I picked up and entire donor car for about that price. Doing a swap is not to hard and could be done in a weekend with an extra pair of hands. If your not in a rush, I'd look around for more options. |
If you're going back to stock, just buy a good block out of another car. A friend of mine did that and only spent ~$2000 for the entire motor |
so please answer me this question, you had all those mods on the stock fp? |
