Boost

Yes I have a boost issue, but I have searched on both forums and didn't quite get an answer.

First off a description. I just installed a BEGi intake (nice system by the way). This was added to my Forge BPV and gutted 2nd cat. Today on my Prosport gauge I noticed in 6th gear accelerating my boost would fluctuate between 15-18 psi. Wasn't falling on it's face by any means, you could hear the rpms fluctuate slightly to the boost. When I slowed down I check my peak boost....19.5 psi!

Now, 1st-4th gear I get no fluctuation. I've read about the coil mod. Haven't done that yet. Thinking this may help according to what I have read. Checked all the hoses, etc makeing sure there is no boost leaks. First I thought it may be related to the weather (been hot and humid here) but it does the same things at 90 degrees the same as 70 degrees.

So what I am thinking, this may be a spark issue. I am going to do the coil mod and check the plugs. With the few mods I have, would it make sense to replace the plugs with a step colder?

Bueller? Bueller?

If you punch it in 6th you with get bigger spikes than if you go from 2k rpm and floor it.

Boost spikes are pretty common with these cars. It depends on where you tap for MBC if you have one, where you tap for the gauge, as well as correct BPV and wastegate operation. What you're seeing is not uncommon for basically stock cars from what I've read Hec, especially in high gear low RPM full throttle situations. Later bud.

Time to do some more research.

Well after checking everything out, tightening all the clamps, doing the coil spring stretch....it still happens. It seems like boost cut....the car spikes at 18-19 and will drop down to 15 psi fluctuating at WOT in the upper gears.

Now I've been thinking. Boost cut defender will probably work, but the boost failsafe is gone. I also thought about the CDFP, but that will only help fuel, not boost cut. I have also been thinking about a boost controller. I should be able to set it where I need it without it spiking too much assuming I bypass the stock boost control solenoid (haven't read into it much). Which eliminates the failsafe again but I can control the boost.

The only other turbo car I've had was the Evo and my Forge MBC was great. Spiked at 23 psi and tapered down to 21 psi. Theoretically, if I use a MBC on the MS3, where should I have the boost set?

Am I right with these assumptions?
