I dunno where you've been in the last, oh... 50 years, but cars are not perfect especially for $20k. It's a small issue, go get it fixed under warranty. Or you can go buy a STI and explode a piston, or a new honda si and lose 3rd gear.

Thats a bit extreme. They dont send a rep out for all warranty work. Also if he knows what he is doing he should be able to put it back to stock without any evidence. He only did some exhaust work.

Maybe the car had too much oil in the engine.

The turbo smoking issue can be fixed...I don't see why you are so ready to drop it, along with a bunch of cash, so quickly. If you mod, there are hurdles to jump over with supplemental mods. This is one of those hurdles where you need supplemental mods (OCC, thicker oil, hi-flow cat, new oem turbo if your seals are toast) to make up for adding a TBE.

Hell if you want to make 300 whp, you are probably going to need a new FP to go with your power mods. If you want 330+ whp, you're going to need a new turbo and a build/meth to support it. And if you want to make over 400 whp...forget about it, it will not survive on our platform yet.

But whatever you decide...good luck and have fun.

do you not understand the turbo and the oil system on this car? we have posted the relevant threads for you to gather the correct information, but you seem to have refused to do the research yourself.

Looks like you need a fast car. You should look at the Toyota Yaris, I hear it's quick and you won't have the smoking turbo problem.

Maybe starting with intake, STS and then a FMIC would have been better to start off with in your case. These mods have been trouble free from what I've seen and should not require any additional supporting mods (unless your FP needs a swap per dashhawk logs).

Adding a catless TBE by itself is renowned for making MOST MS3's smoke. The cause is that without the additional back-pressure from your stock cats, it makes it much easier for oil to sneak through our turbo seals (as mentioned in other posts/thread links on this thread). Our cars were designed to have these cats in place...and there are consequences to taking them off (your smoking issue). In other words....you didn't PROPERLY install your TBE for it not to smoke. You still aren't finished with this mod yet. You can blame Mazda all you want for the poor design, but in the end, it smokes now because of the new hardware on your car. You have to do more research and find out what others are doing to finish their smokeless TBE installation. And if you don't want to deal with adding the mods they suggest and can't stand the smoke...then go back to stock. If it still smokes excessively after that, get your turbo replaced.

Seriously Johnson, you're a whiny ass bitch. It takes a real fucktard to be a douchnozzle to people that are trying to help. Why don't you sell the car and stop embarrassing yourself. Alternatively you could try acting like a grownup.

Ha. It actually is a little zippy car. You wouldn't know it only had like 80 whp. Just don't get an ATX one... (2nd car is a yaris liftback). Wish they would bring the TS to the states. It's the liftback with the 1.8, something like 120 whp. Add some mods to that thing on a 2400 lb car...nuts.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you mod your car and think, "This is awesome, absolutely nothing can go wrong with this!" Mods are trouble. There have been other threads on this exact problem. Even CAI/SRI and stuff that should be simple, easy, problem free installs go wrong... sh!t happens. Roll with it.

If you want advice, this is the place for it. If you want to whine and complain about the MS3... maybe you should join a subaru or evox forum.

I would agree but its not a fact but more of a personal opinion. Point is the speed3 has much more competition since its release. It would have been nice if the new 3 could have raised the bar once again, say close to 300 horse and optional awd.

Agreed....we are just trying to help. If someone disagrees with you (as with the "it was soot or water, not oil from your exhaust"), take it as a constructive comment...not an inflammatory one. We're not there in your driveway to see it for ourselves, nor do we know how knowledgable you are about your car. There have been PLENTY of other people who have come on the forums and freaked out about something as simple as a liquid dripping from their tailpipe. And to be honest, most people would think you were seeing water and not oil because this is the first time I've ever heard of oil making it out of our exhaust in liquid form, and I've read an asston of posts on this topic.

And I'd have to disagree with you...this car IS fast. Maybe not fast to someone who owns a 500 whp STI or a 1000 whp viper...but compared to 95% of the population of cars out there, it is a rocket, especially on the freeway. Don't give up on our platform until you do research on the car you want to exchange it for. Chances are, you'll find the same hurdles/problems when trying to mod that one out too.

Your car burns oil because of YOU! Was it burning oil before you altered the vehicle?

Stop blaming the vehicle and do us all a favor and

The OP must be a troll from the STI boards. He prolly got rolled by an MS3 on the freeway and is just pissed off that he spent 35k on his car while the MS3 has similar speed and fit/finish for only 20k.

He's using one of the flaws of this car to make us look bad so that others wont buy one. I should return the favor and go complain about stripping gears or popping my engine while stock over on his forum.

THE ISSUE CAN BE FIXED....GET OVER IT. If you want to lose $3-4K by selling your car over an issue that can be fixed for only ~$300-$500, then be my guest.

Did anyone ever stop and think that this kid (assuming he's 16 or 17 judging by his amazing grammar, sentence structure, and overall pleasant attitude) doesn't care how much of a loss he takes when he sells this car? I mean, I would assume it's his dads money, and he'll just have him run out and buy him a different car that he can complain about after the first 1k miles of ownership.

In all honesty, for the price, this is an amazing car stock from the factory. Obviously you will reply that we are all bias on this site, so just look out the reviews out there:

2009 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 Reviews, Pictures and Prices - U.S. News Rankings and Reviews

2007 Mazdaspeed 3 - Comparison Test / 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 vs. 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX, 2008 Volvo C30 T5 - Comparison Test / Hatchbacks / Comparison Test / Reviews / Car and Driver - Car And Driver

2006 Sport Compact Comparison Test

RoadandTrack.com -- Comparison Tests - Comparison Test: 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 vs 2007 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 (2/2008)

2008 Mazdaspeed 3 vs. 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX vs. 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart Comparison Test on Inside Line

I could have posted a dozen more, but I'm sure that posting those was pointless enough considering your closed mindedness on the subject.

I bought my Speed 3 about a month ago (2008.5 - White - $19,500), and I think it's a great car for my needs. I wanted something quick, functional, and aesthetically appealing (at least to me.. The fiancee is still getting used to a hatch...). I will be putting a CAI on soon and probably a few other minor modifications (mounts, shifter bushing) as my first oil change approaches (1k miles today), but that's about it for me. The car is plenty quick for my needs, and I don't want to jeopardize the warranty.

In your case, it sounds like you wanted to buy a car that you could modify it into a rocket like they do in all of the magazines that you've read, and then turn around and beat the piss out of it on a daily basis... Am I right? I mean, the car had less than a thousand miles on it, and you already decided to do a TBE. Well, in all honesty, you probably bought the wrong car then, and maybe you should buy something else. Keep in mind, no matter what kind of car you get, you always run into problems when you start modifying them.

I'm sure that if you were able to read through this entire post (I tried not to use too many big words) you are now prepared to throw some sort of unintelligent comeback my way, so on that note, I regress.

The hell if its a tick faster. Its all about the package. Chevy is a rental car with a cheap interior. You mod a car you get issues get over it.

In all honesty, for the price, this is an amazing car stock from the factory. Obviously you will reply that we are all bias on this site, so just look out the reviews out there:

I'm sure that if you were able to read through this entire post (I tried not to use too many big words) you are now prepared to throw some sort of unintelligent comeback my way, so on that note, I regress.
im 24 and its my money not daddy's so thanks for your input
