well, if we're going to start questioning the OP, i will like to say that i wondered how he changed a transmission mount under a tree on the side of the road AFTER the engine dropped.

I'm really surprised how many people don't use a torque wrench when working on their cars. They don't cost that much silly rabbits. Last year I bought a 3/8" digital torque wrench from Snap-On and I love that thing. It was expensive, but well worth it. I also have the cheap click types......1/4" and 1/2". Harbor Freight FWIW

Loctite Rules!!

Here ya go. The dealer told my dad the clutch/flywheel had nothing to do with the tranny mount. The bolt was still connected to the engine....it went through the mount....I don't see loctite or a torque wrench doing anything here.

Is that washer bent to shit? How fucking tight did you torque that, an impact gun? This is a first for me to see a trz trans mount fail. A torque wrench will prevent overtorquing the bolt and damaging it.

that washer is fucked up and so is the side of the hole in the mount. how about a close up of the washer?

it looks like it bent and broke at the bend? then was sucked through the hole?

looks like the weld failed? you'd have the bushing too if the washer was on top.

That's the paint from the car. I used a normal 1/2" socket with an extension to tighten it down.

damn man royally sucks and i hope you get it worked out. with a lighter flywheel car revs faster but needs more gas to leave a red light as you let clutch out. personally for my dd speed 3 i never wanna go lighter. my se-r has one and i will not use another

OP - every one is so curious because this has never been seen before, not because they're totally calling you a liar. just skeptical.

Interesting shit. I think there is a problem with your tranny mount, it has a hole in it. I advise not to use it before something bad happens... o wat?

OP - every one is so curious because this has never been seen before, not because they're totally calling you a liar. just skeptical.
I was skeptical too - I'm no mechanic, I just read tutorials on here 5 times before I try something then give it a go.

I doubt your clutch is broken. Looks like typical trans mount failure. Axle popping out and wiring and other shit getting fucked up. Fix problem #1.

That, and please show more detailed, better quality pics of the damage.

A clearer idea who YOU think the clutch is gone.

I was the one who met up with him and tried to get him home to fix it. we used a floor jack and my spare tire jack to lift the engine and push it back towards the firewall (dirty but got the job done) neither of us are mechanics by any means but we are both mechanically "inclined" if you will. I still have the OEM mounts on except the rear so I don't know much about the side mounts. It looked like to me (no offense iracer7) that it was probably tightened too much and ended up ringing the washer out after many WOT's on it. I hope you get everything fixed and I would take it to my Dad's friend Stuart Rolfe Automotive and get an estimate. He is located behind CarMax on Midlothian Tnpk.

it must have been a crazy amount of torque to break the bushing weld and then pull the bolt and washer through the bushing.

I used just a normal socket with an extension to tighten...no impact gun.

okay, but how much torque did you throw at it? more or less than a lug nut?

Without using a torque wrench, you're never gonna have any idea.

Dealer was pretty adamant about the problem being related to heavy wear and excessive stress on clutch and flywheel according to my dad....there's no way I believe them and I believe my dad said something to them about me thinking it was the tranny mount that broke and they say it couldn't have caused the clutch and flywheel to break...I had it towed to a transmission shop where a guy said he would install my own parts for $800 but wouldn't give any kind of warranty with them. I kinda doubt that both the flywheel and clutch are both gone....I'll see what the transmission guy says tomorrow morning.

$800 labor is pretty steep. Especially with no warrenty on the work done.

And most people DO replace their flywheel when they upgrade their clutch. Or at the very least- resurface the flywheel whe getting an OEM replacement clutch.

A broken trans mount cant break a clutch, but a busted clutch could break a trans mount.

From the sound of it, I am going to back the dealer up that the clutch is gone. OP said he bolted the oem mount back on and it shifted normally but the trans wasnt going into gear. The fact that he bolted the OEM one back on tells me that the trans was still ok. Since it was ok, that sounds like a classic clutch prob. OP do you know if they checked the throw out bearing to make sure it wasnt damaged? Maybe a hydraulic line kinked or something simple like that.

Regardless, its really impressive that you are the first person that to my knowledge has managed to frag a TRZ mount, and doublely it is impressive that you did it in a car with a couple bolt ons.

It won't go anywhere if the axles popped out. That is a characteristic of trans mount fail.

I don't know much about transmissions but where the shifter weight is, that linkage area, it looked normal when someone in the car was shifting. I've never had any problems with the clutch slipping or anything.

I think the dealer, as incompetent as they can be, would have noticed if the axles had poped out.

Got car towed to transmission shop and they say they axle is broke...~$500 to fix. If the axle is broke, would the wheels get any power? He didn't look at the clutch/flywheel yet because the car won't move or something like that.

Each wneel has an axle correct? So if the left front broke, wouldn't the right front still spin the rf tire?
