Broken rear diff housing

Hi all,

So it seems my rear diff housing has broken, haven't had a chance to get under the car but that'll happen this wknd.

I assumed I had broken the bracket or the rubber mounts gave up the go, but apparently one bolt has sheared in the diff housing and the mount on housing has snapped off the housing.

Warranty company (purchased extended warranty upon purchase in November) refuse to pay as they said a rusted bolt sheered causing the broken mount and they will not cover because of that.

So, has anyone else had this happen? I don't know my next move to try and get warranty to pay for it. I should be able to dismantle it and weld it back together or if someone on here has a wrecked speed 6 they can sell a housing to me.

Cheers, Jase

Depends on which mount you're talking about. If its the front diff mount that caused all this, you can buy the front diff housing by itself from Mazda (~$300 iirc) and swap it out.

Had this happen to me and Mazda would t warranty it so I did it myself and replaced that while swapping out both diff mounts.

It's not the mount, it's the rear diff housing that broke

That is what he is saying. Your problem isn't that uncommon whith stock diff mounts.

You didn't read my post...go back and read it again since I clearly talk about the diff housing being replaced. Depending on which mount that had the bolt shear off depends on what options you have.

So a relief, the housing wasn't broken. One bolt has sheered in the housing in the front bracket and the other has pulled the thread out. Will remove the sheered bolt and helicoil the housing. While I'm there I should probably get those jazzy billet mounts as I don't want to remove the diff again.

Mazda and their warranty plan can go eat a bag of dicks!
