BT or sell?

Car is at 105,000 miles and overall driving strong. The last two weeks I have been losing coolant and having to top up every 50 miles or so. Losing a couple cups in that time. Got under it today to track down a leak and spotted oil leaking from turbo quite a bit running along the oil lines. This is 2nd oem turbo with 75,000 on it. Has it finally given up and time to go BT as planned? Could this be same reason for low coolant, maybe it too is leaking and burning odd (distilled water and water wetter)?

An external oil leak does not mean bad turbo. Turbo seals fail internally. Your oil feed might need to be tightened or new washers installed, or possibly tighten / replace the oil return flange gasket.

As far as coolant loss goes, does your reservior have black or brown residue in it? Look at the bottom of your oil cap for milky sludge. These are signs of head gasket failure. You can also rent a cooling system pressure tester to check for coolant leaks.

Also check the coolant reservoir itself. I hear a few crack and when under pressure leak.

Coolant reservoir seems in good condition, no sludge. Its only 6 months old or so, replaced it as maintenance item. It was all crudded up after the seals went on my first turbo and with age. Water if anything is slightly orange.

Cleaned the valves about 3 months ago so may have cracked a hose or something during the process. Also changed the thermostat when there. Old one was also covered in an orange color. I like the idea of a coolant pressure test. Maybe the maintenance couple months ago and something had come lose.

As for the oil leak, I'll let it cool and see if I can tighten the feeds and return flanges. BT has been on the books as I've been expecting this turbo to leak seals again soon. Assumed this was similar issue. If nothing seems loose I'll try new washers and flanges etc.

damn you socal and your non-existent weather!!

I have nothing else to contribute other than telling you to just go BT and don't look back. pulling hard to redline is a beautiful thing.
