FFF, was Jeg's the best price you found for the 12616?

Bump for catted or catless DP and RB CBE impressions.

Ken at PG said the CS CBE would totally fail the "wife test" when I inquired about it. So it is definitely noticeably louder than stock.

He recommended the Racingbeat CBE for me.

The wife would have to be pretty dumb not to notice dual tips vs. a single, but I could be wrong. I know mine would notice.

Mmm unfortunately It is probably easier and cheaper to get the Corksport, if its too loud I can put another small resonator in where the back muffler goes in the standard exhaust............ and yes she would definitely notice the twin tips. At least it will have better bends and flow a little better with the rest (race pipe etc) installed.

what about the greddy? I haven't heard any sound comparisons yet, plus it does have a silencer you can put in it.

My wife doesn't care about my adding a CBE, but she would refuse to use my car for long trips (or any trips like my Mustang) if it is too loud....

My solution was, cut out a resonator and weld in a Magnaflow 12616.
It is a similar tone to stock, but without the drone.
Perfect IMO and $60 + install.

Dragging up an old thread but I just installed the Magnaflow 12616 resonator in place of the 2nd resonator and love it. Got the idea from this thread. The exhaust is stock except for a SU TP. The car is quieter than stock with no loss in performance.

You know you are getting older when you add things to your car to make it quieter.

You also realize as you get older that the stereo volume knob also turns to the left.

I have a racing beat cbe and i am really sure this is the quietest available. I am getting my hands on a catted cpe dp in the next week or two so im sure i can post vids on how it sounds.

currently, the racing beat i have sounds really subtle, i find it quieter than stock actually but you do feel a big difference in performance, less drone, and most positive things you get with an aftermarket exhaust. Also, the twin tip makes it keep the stock look as well.

I love the idea of Racing Beat being quiet, but loud when needed. But I can't stand the way it looks. Double tips just doesn't look right on our car...?

The dual tips look fine as long as you make sure to adjust the tip section as far inboard as possible before you tighten everything up. It only looks awkward if it sticks out really far.

1 year bump...

decided bump this cause i was able to tame down the already quiet mazdaspeed cbe...after a couple years of ownership of the cbe the weld on the muffler outlet cracked a couple of times so i decided to replace the muffler. i also added a vibrant resonator to tame it down more. i believe this would be the quietest set up without any huge restrictions. both exhaust components are straight through unlike the baffled muffler that racing beat has. i've heard the racing beat in person and i can say that this is quieter than that. i can barely hear it at idle and very quiet when cruising. doesnt drone at all even when decelerating but comes alive when you get on it.

Magnaflow 14719 7" round 3" in/out
Vibrant 17050 5" round 3" in/out
