catted DP mated to stock CBE...

I just bought a CNT catted DP, and I am on the fence whether or not to try it with the stock CBE, or just pull the trigger on the CNT CBE as well. Currently, I have a test pipe and the first reso delete. I really like the tone outside the car, but the drone is pretty bad on decel. Does anyone know if a catted DP mated to the stock CBE creates drone? Is it worth it to put a small reso in the TP portion of the DP as well? Not sure which route to go...any help would be mucho appreciato! thanks!

Agree. OP: Look at my sig, and also check out my posts on this issue. My experience is that the stock CBE is going to flow better than the stock K04 turbo's maximum exhaust discharge rate. Those severe exhaust restrictions are all upstream of the CBE, as you have already figured out.

I can't tell you if a catted dp into an open rp into the stock CBE will drone. I can tell you that my completely catless dp/rp into stock CBE had a terrible drone at 2,500 rpm, which I fixed with the big 3 inch straight through reso in my rp section.

My suggestion is to try your catted dp mated to the rp and stock CBE and see if you get drone. The cat may tone it down some. If you can live with it, leave the rp alone.

I see you are already one reso delete. Don't think that is going to help the problem, but not sure. Might want to have it welded back in after you see how the dp sounds.

If you are still unhappy, go to Amazon and order the reso in my sig. I think you can get it for about $80, way cheaper than a CBE that might not fix your problem anyway. Pulling the rp off to make this mod and putting it back is very easy. Not like trying to remove and replace the whole damn CBE, which you are likely to have to cut to get out anyway. Worked great for me. Vibrant part number is 1142. See photo below Just a thought . . .

You will almost definitely get more drone and more noise in general if you replace the stock CBE with the CNT one. It sounds pretty loud from the videos I've seen.

And you said the drone was on decel. Why don't you just not engine brake? Put it in neutral when you're decelerating.

MSMS3, did you need a special neck down flat flange adapter to mate your TurboXS to the stock CBE? The CNT I have has a flat flange as well, I know I am going to need some sort of adapter.

I don't see this as a good solution to drone or good advice in general.
I think its better to stay in gear because you are ready to accelerate when needed and you are not burning gas in neutral.

The TurboXS kit came with the reducer. I'd have to get under the car and look at how it connects. My recollection is that there is a 3 inch I.D. donut between the dp and rp and then between the rp and the stock CBE is the reducer which is like a flat flange about a 1/2 inch thick with a taper on the inside center diameter section, but I'm going by memory.
