Clunk is Torn PTP driverside bushings...

So last night I was driving on the freeway on my way home, I downshifted to pass someone and got a loud clunk when I released the clutch pedal. Pulled off at the next exit and looked as best I could and everything was where it should be.

Since I was almost home I babied her home, but it would clunk every time I released the clutch unless I feathered it like crazy.

This morning I checked my driverside mount (i had the pt performance one installed earlier this week so maybe something was loose) but everything was still tight and torqued. Still need to double check the rear mount. But other than that I'm not sure what it could be.

Any ideas guys?

I've gotten that before its random. no idea what it is but its been happening for months and my car hasn't blown so who knows.

Did yours happen intermittently? Would it happen consistently for a while then stop? Because right now I can get it to cluck at will.

nah mine was really random. I tried to leave the car in gear from a stop and release it different ways but it was hit or miss

i bet its the brace on the bottom of the car hitting your aftermarket downpipe.

Mine started doing this and while under the car i noticed it was very close, so i dropped the brace, and sure enough it was hitting, no brace, no clunk.

Try sturdier exhaust hanger bushings....

funny you say that cause i ditched the brace for another reason and my noise is gone for a while now too lol

Stock downpipe. Sways were retightened earlier in the week and had loc-tite put on.

MS CAI so no cobb bracket issues.

It only clunks when the clutch is released. Not when turning, or going over speed bumps.

Checked the torque on all the driverside bolts except for the one going through the bushing (hard to do on the ptp mount without a second set of hands)

check the clearance on that brace. I bet its close. You might see rub marks on it if you take it off (i did.)

Torn bushing in my pt performance mount... pictures pending...

Yikes! I have the ptp mount and I can't see how this could happen?!?

pics of the mount falling apart in less than a week and under 200 miles

That's the big question isn't it? Everything was torqued to spec.

it seems like any engine movement is translated directly to the edges of the bushing causing the tearing and then ultimately the clunking

Bushing maybe too soft but still one week and 200 miles couldn't kill even a really soft bushing i would think. Gonna have to have others check there's and chime in.
