(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Pros: -shifts are MUCH shorter -shifts feel more percise -shifter looks beautiful Cons: -If used without the stock counterweight, 1st and 2nd gear are close to impossible to find and get to. -downshifting to 2nd gear requires a bit of a jerk -the unit looks good as a whole, but the way its put together feels kind of flimsy(especially on the part where the the top piece is bolted in above the spring. This is where I felt the TWM was better, the TWM felt like a whole solid piece, not like a bunch of legos. Regardless of the cons, the performance of the shifter is exactly what im looking for. The notchier shorter throws make it worth while.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Grrr - I just order one the other day and it's been shipped. I hope I can find 1st and 2nd as I don't use the counter weight as it hits my damn ATP FMIC pipeing. Oh well we will see soon enough. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score The TWM feels more solid, but it looks cheap and the shifts arent that short at all. Its pretty pointless to buy the TWM without the bushings. I actually drove around a bit more with the COBBa little while ago and the damn portion above the spring is jiggling and loose. It annoys the hell out of me. Is it supposed to be like this? Im gonna PM the COBB guys.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Wow... that really sucks. I just installed mine. Mine does have the grooved collar that yours is missing. I know what you mean by the top section having slop. The part with "Cobb" engraved has a small amount of rotational play. 1st and 2nd seem pretty easy to find without the weight. Without it, its very notchy, with the weight, its very heavy... time to make my own weight I suppose. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I was going to start installing mine after the re-revised shaft came in yesterday and thought to check the site for any probs with it lol. I found your thread and had to check mines. You are missing the plastic slide over peice, double check your box. Or maybe someone from the place you bought it from needed a replacement and decided to take yours lol. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I was excited about this short throw...but Cobb's quality as of late makes me second guess again. I wanted a Cobb intake, but the wait and quality lately pushed me to the Begi intake. I want a short throw, and I am more than likely going with the TWM. Why can't Cobb put anything out without having issues?

| Well these kind of things can be caught before they are shipped to their dealers by checking the parts prior to packing. When i installed mine, i really didn't look at it as far as that collar piece. I figured it was perm attached and never second guessed it.

That being said i do appreciate the devolopment of products for the speed community. CPE's motor mount launch didn't really work like a charm either but thats the kind of stuff that comes with the territory of new stuff for a new car

| Shit happens.. If they ignored it, its one thing, but they have taken the appropriate steps to address problems and take care of the customers, regardless. Im not sure if that collar piece can be taken off by hand or if its sitting at the bottom of his packing box.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I am getting pretty sick of waiting around on cobb also. The Ap is by no means worth the money, the shifter is very expensive and is hardly better than the twm the looks of things, the intakes are faulty. I was all for cobb, but there comes a point when a person just gets sick of waiting around no matter whos fault it is. My intake had a cracked air fin, then, the new housing had a bent air fin, now ive been waiting for almost 2 months for the maf housing which I told them about long before I saw all these post popping up on the internet. I see people getting their housings everyday and I cant even get the cobb guys to respond to my emails. On top of all of this, the bracket that connects to the intake has broken the bracket under the battery box twice. I have paid 90 dollars out of pocket twice because of this and cobb is finally telling me its simply because the bracket under the battery box is weak. Which it is, but it wasnt breaking without the cobb intake. I have been given the run around on all the products I have brought from cobb time and time again. 6-8 weeks is always the answer when I have been waiting 2 + months. I had to cancel my fmic order because i was simply sick of waiting. What going on? Wheres this great company that we always hear about? When it comes to the public forms everything is great, but the minute I call in or send an email I am ignored. This is my hard earned money here, and I am not going to put out nearly 300 fucking dollars for a shifter that is sloppy and loose by design. The last thing someone needs in this car is a shifter that is wiggling around when they are trying to find the gears. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score What I look for in a shifter are shorter throws, thats my main thing. The throws are definetaly shorter, THAT I like, BUT my complaints are listed. Those things Im not happy with, and I want them fixed. I have PMed the guys at COBB and I am waiting for a response. Unlike some..... I am not a biased person... I like COBB, but I am surely complaining about the issues with the shifter and or any product from any company. If you read my entire post you would have read that i had good things and bad things to say. Obviously you are missreading my post and taking it the wrong way.... Always quick to jump the gun. Its obvious you hate COBB (duh) but out of all due respect for people on the forum looking for INFO, dont jump on the thread making mockery of whomever youd like. I understand you are entitled to your opinions, and I totaly respect that. Ive told you before that I like what your doing with your MS3 and its good to have people who will "take risks" but this this thread is meant to be informative. Dont jump on it and turn it into a who vs who thread. Thnx.

Unless it acts more like a bushing (which it probably does). Some are metal, some brass, some plastic or rubber. ![]() ![]() By the way, it was already on my shaft and does come off by hand. | |

If you like fluid shifting, TWM if you like a more rigid, precision type shift, Cobb If you come from a domestic background that has a hurst, steeda tri-ax, pro 5.0, etc type aftermarket shifter, thats more or less what the Cobb feels like. The TWM is more fluid and feels good. Less effort is best to describe it. Out of 11 people who drove ours cars, they all said the same thing and none of them disliked one over the other. Makes no sense to pull out one STS for another, honestly.

ANYWAYS......... Still waiting for someone from COBB to chime in, I need this thing fixed, would like to get the missing piece since im entitled to it. As far as the wobbly loose feeling, I surely hope they will replace the whole damn thing if its just my shifter, but then again i hope ALL the shifters arent like that cause its annoying as fuck.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Renzokuken - I don't know how this part was shipped without a component so vital to the performance of the shifter and I am really sorry for the inconvenience it's caused. As everyone here has already said, give us a call at (801)713-0035, 9am-6pm MST, and we'll get you taken care of. You can ask for me personally, if you like - my name is Shayne. |

I thought about checking out the Cobb shifter, but looks like the differences are negligible, so I'll stay where I am at with the TWM Bushing, and shifter..

| Not Ranked : 0 score I can only think that the assembly complexity of the STS has caused the guys in the warehouse to miss a step. All I can do is say that we will get it shipped out if you call in and circle on the assembly drawing in the warehouse the part that they need to make sure is on the shifter. We did that part out of plastic as it is the best material for that part of the job. The factory goes through the trouble to make that part out of plastic so there is no metal-to-metal contact.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I just installed my Cobb STS tonight. On the shortest throw setting I can't even get it into 1st or 2nd. If I move it down one notch it's just fine. Ether way I'm happy. The only other issue I have is the Spring on the shaft is catching on something and popping back. I can hear it when it releases. The is the spring on the shaft and not the tension one. All in all I'm happy. Just wished I could use the lowest throw setting. |
