Cold air filter replacement

i was doing oil change the other day and the filter looks really black. does that mean i should change/wash it?

how do i go about doing that. some input no where to buy or what size filter or type of filter would really help. i tried googling. it didnt go too well.

thanks in advance. i know how much you guys hate noob questions.

Remove filter, clean filter, if your not happy measure and replace filter...
I would personally replace it and buy a Pre-filter if you don't have one already.

The mazdaspeed cai filter is dryflow. You can clean with cleaning solution they sell or pick up a new AEM one from autozone - AEM filter is same as mazdaspeed one.

racist.

ziwang55 03-27-2012 07:40 PM

does it matter which one specially or are they all basically the same shit. does any air filter cleaning solution work. or better deal to just buy another one.

also what is prefilter?

Dmurray06 03-27-2012 08:37 PM

Basicly a cloth bag ish type thing that goes over your filter.

Edit: this is what I am talking about http://www.aemintakes.com/images/l/AEM-1-4004.jpg

Depends on the woman. Some say size doesn't matter, others say size is everything. Its up to the girl you're talking to, really.

My bad, you know what I mean. Clean it when it's dirty

LatinKraze 04-01-2012 06:29 PM

The Brute Force filter is gray so dirt blends in. I hold it up to the sunlight to guage when to clean it or you could go with the regular AEM in the same size. The filter element is red so it's easier to see the grime

ziwang55 04-01-2012 09:36 PM

i was only curious cuz the filter was grey. went to auto zone. they dont got it. so i guess ill order online. 2.75" x 5" is correct right?

LatinKraze 04-01-2012 11:34 PM

2.75 inlet and the rest of the dimensions is up to you. 5" is the one I purchased and it fits with the splash shield just fine
