Default Compression check on Laloosh's motor

The guy who has Laloosh's car did a compression check and got these results.

185/179/165/190 psi

Im not an expert but that looks pretty good right? 185 is great I think, what about is that cylinder 3 165 normal?

165 is border line imo. Usually they should be within 20-30 of each other. However i havnt seen any compression tests for this car

does the dude burn or any oil or coolant? I traded her in iwth 37-38 and the only coolant/oil lost was from turbo installs/uninstalls, otherwise, not a drop was burned.

Normally with a compression test, if the cylinder compression is between 10-20% you're good. Cylinder 3 looks a little low imo. Was this done as a cold start, or the engine was already warm?

You want to do it with a warm engine..

Ill try to find my thread about when I did my compression check..

I found it and it looks like I was between 172-180psi,i should test it again with my new bottom end rebuild.

The numbers aren't terrible. I have shit compression showing 160, 148-152, 180, 185.

He'll be fine. 160+ is fine but its getting border line low.

Yeah, just make sure your engine is warmed up, I have a project 95 del sol s, that I had to do a compression test to see if my rings aren't blown and it hasn't been started for the longest time (and still hasn't, been trouble shooting for the last month or so), so I knew with a cold engine that the compression wasn't going to be right.

Compression checks are extremely easy to do. In the mazdaspeeds all you have to do is pull all four plugs and step on the gas while stepping on the clutch and turn the key and hold for a few seconds. Its programmed in the ecu that when you have the clutch and gas depressed all the way at startup the throttle will open and the injectors wont pulse so no gas. If you don't believe me (your dumb haha) but go out and try to start your car doing that. It wont start.

If you don't believe me (your dumb haha) but go out and try to start your car doing that. It wont start.
awsome info bro!

More than 10% between cly's is dookie and you have close to 20% from the highest to lowest (double dookie). We build a motor with oil dropped per cly if there is more then 7% change between cylinders. You should never have more than 3% on a properly broken in newer motor.
