Could my car be slower after fuel pump internals?

I have an almost stock (just a Cobb SRI) 09 speed 3.

I installed the Carpe Diem Max Flow Fuel pump internals, and after a few hundred miles i have come to the conclusion that the butt dyno says i have lost some power.

Is it fair for me to conclude i have lost some power because the car is running richer?

No unless the pump is not working as expected. You must get a device to datalog fuel pressure.

gsrtype1 04-17-2009 08:26 AM

Have you data logged your fuel pressure?

ms3jake 04-17-2009 08:41 AM

Why did you upgrade the fuel pump internals if you are near stock?

Bravnik 04-17-2009 08:44 AM

Because he probably had stutter or some other abnormality and the FIRST thing people do is tell people....OMG YOU NEED FP Upgrade!!!!!! Which is total horse shit 99% of the time.

U prob didn't need a upgrade with yur mods. But it shoulld't feel less powerful, my car felt smother and more powerful after installing pg internals. U should borrow a dasshawk if u don't have one and log yur fuel pressure in a 3rg gear wot run. It should never go below 1700psi.

Im going to order a Dashhawk very very soon.

I know with my mods i dont need a fuel pump, but coming from a bmw tuning community prior to this car i like to mod safely first.

Before installing a down pipe or anything else i wanted to make sure that i have a fuel pump and OCC taken care of, dont want my 09 popping.

Did you get version 1 or version 2 of the fuel pump internals?

remember, the first batch was machined incorrectly, the second batch is fine however.

both version one and two were recalled. However mine went through the recall process so no worries and I talked to... John... i think at Carpe Diem and he said he personally checked it.

However this thread is just and inquiry to find out if i would be running richer now with higher fuel pressure.

Nothing wrong with playing it safe. I dont think a couple bolt ons like a DP and intake are gonna blow your motor. If this motor is gonna pop its gonna pop. Of coarse blindy turning up the boost or flooring it up a steep hill in 6th gear at 1500 rpms on a cold engine may be part of the story people have left out on these random blown engines. "I dont know what happened I was driving along not in boost at 2500 rpms and BOOM!" Like judge Judy says: " If the story doesnt make sense its probably a lie.":deal:

well you'll have to datalog, if you're running richer but were'nt knockin' in the first place then you might have lost a little power. But if you were someone who was knocking a lot and timing had to be cut back, then there is power to be gained from the extra fuel. Leaner=hotter burn= more efficient, which it sounds like you know that. At least you can sleep better at night. But I would check to see if your hunch is true
