Cracked a piston

Cylinder 1 piston is busted. Gotta buil the motor. Luckily the rods are still ok and right where they should be. Not gonna be cheap but could be worse i suppose :/:irked:

FreeFlyFreak 08-02-2009 07:40 PM

Mods.
How.

subparpunk03 08-02-2009 07:59 PM

Why is it that everyone who kerplodes almost never post details?

Lex 08-02-2009 08:02 PM

I also love all these blowup posts on the 1st post.

turd burglar 08-02-2009 08:06 PM

Dunno how it happened or when. Its holdin 85% compression still. Haven't driven the car hard in awhile cuz i was under the impression my turbo was goin bad again cuz of smoking. Turns out it was oil leakin by the piston and the dead give away was all the oil that sprayed all over my engine bay after the pcv check valve blew apart on monday. My mods are turbo xs tbe, cobb fmic, cp-e nano and inlet, nrg bpv, 1 step colder plugs, occ, mr lil guy fuel pump, bsd and oil pan baffle, and a custom tune from surgeline tuning.

I'm the only guy in the world that blew their motor WOT.

:hmmm:

jhershorin 08-02-2009 08:26 PM

I really should borescope my motor. I have compression issues but im fairly positive i just have worn rings and scored cylinder walls.

2007speed3 08-03-2009 06:40 AM

^ whats your compression at?

Darksun280 08-03-2009 07:22 AM

ehh joined yesterday, first post is about blowing up. Too convenient. Probably just to stir the pot.

doubleflusher 08-03-2009 07:24 AM

Either way, it's a great name.

turd burglar 08-05-2009 05:46 PM

I'm just gonna go forged. I don't wanna pay out my ass but while the motor is out i might as well make er safe

Think i'm gonna go with wiseco and pauter. If anyone cares to chime on other options i'm listenin. Thanks guys

DaleNixon 08-05-2009 05:51 PM

Donate and you'll never have to steal another turd again.

JumpingJackson 08-05-2009 07:06 PM

atleast it was a piston, and not a rod. LOL

My thoughts exactly lol its like gettin kicked in the balls but somehow only one of em gets smashed not both. WOOHOO talk about a consolation prize right?!

ha you have no idea. I still have these new stock rods and pistons for stupid cheap if you want to go that route. Throw em in and trade that car in.

jhershorin 08-07-2009 05:32 PM

Where you located turd - if your near where I am moving I"ll turn some wrenches to save you some dough.

turd burglar 08-07-2009 05:38 PM

Located in good ol albany oregon . But the damage has already been done lol by that i mean the motor has been pulled broken down and sent off to the machine shop already thanks alot though man

Number 1 and 2 seems very unhealthy. I would not drive that if I were you.

jhershorin 08-07-2009 08:03 PM

haha. driving it is fine. compression hasn't changed in 6 months. it is just worn cylinder walls / piston rings. motors not gonna pop - can't build enough cylinder pressure :) if i ever feel the motivation to build another car i will with the same head i had on my turbo 3 and a higher compression bottom end with a 3076. i doubt i will. i'll probably buy my buddies TL off him or my brothers g35. I've had a fast car. I like comfy now. My ms6 has a flawless fully JL Audio top of the line system in it (gotta love being a JL dealer) and a pioneer z3 so its a blast for road trips. With the weight of the ms6 and the shitty rear end i have no interest at this point in making it as fast as my last car - or even trying. but who knows - maybe i'll get bored and want to turn a wrench again

turd burglar 08-08-2009 09:49 AM

Quick question guys should i get some new coated bearings on this build or just reuse the oe bearings? Its my dd and i don't plan on ever racin this thing on any sort of consistent basis so should i save my money elsewhere? Thanks

Don't reuse bearings especially on a new build with new parts.

subparpunk03 08-08-2009 11:08 AM

I would look into a coated set of OE bearings. Don't mess around with different sized ones.

turd burglar 08-08-2009 03:05 PM

Ok thanks guys. More questions will undoubtedly be comin lol this all got forced on me way too quick!!!

Edit by Darksun: Bad burglar, Bad boy....

Wenis Prinkle 08-09-2009 03:05 PM

hmmm r u sure??? do a compression check with it warm???? u could have a leaky injector seal causing that 85% on #1. u need to pull your drain plug and look for chunks of ringlands and shit to verify its the piston. and borrow wanna those tools so you can send a small camera into the cylinder and actually inspect the piston. dont jump the gun and tear down your motor for no reason, make sure first

The motor has been out and torn down for like 4 days lol some of my bearings are hammered pretty bad i was just told and if my pcv valve blew apart cuz of oil pressure on it i doubt it was my injector

Lex 08-09-2009 07:27 PM

Your PCV blew apart from oil pressure on it? You mean compression pressure because the piston was cracked? Got any pics?

turd burglar 08-09-2009 10:43 PM

No pics don't even have the motor its sittin in a machine shop right now. When it happened oil blew out my exhaust all over the hatch and the entire passenger side of my engine bay from the radiator to the front axle was covered in oil lol shitty

See TB thought that cause the car was fucking him in the ass no one else could fuck him. 7 thousand dollars and 9 inchs of shop cock in the mouth later he'll realize he was wrong.
