Default Crower Cams

So first off I finally got my motor back today after almost a year at the machine shop. This shop has done my motor and @BlueStreak; two engines. One is currently in his car the other is in @Fobio; car. They have another 2 MZR-L3T engines there waiting for a build and another 2 on the way before the end of next year.

With all this interest in our platform at their shop they wanted to see if they can use there connections to get some cams made for us by Crower. This machine shop (Competition Automotive) has been in business for almost 40 years so I think there connections would be legit. They recommended Crower as Crower already makes cams for the NA MZR motor they figured this shouldn't be a big deal for them.

So today the owner asked me what kind of rough profile I was looking for having no idea what to tell him I figured I'll ask you guys first for some input.

Here is what I've been able to find on the FI cams for the standard MZR motor. I'm not sure how they relate to our engine's camshafts but the idea of 8500rpm sounds fun.

Do you have any thoughts on profiles that I should be asking for?

Or should I just them and Crower decide what's best?

I have not done much research on what would work best for the engine, or even what works the best on the street. This is a big step that I don't what to take unless I have all the info and completely understand what needs to happen to make this work.

@Tomas; seems to know quite a bit about cam profiles, so maybe he can chime in.... Funny too cause I was looking at those duratec cams today, wishing we had an option

I begged Crower to make a set and they could not find a source for blanks. They are willing to make them though, but if blanks were found any cam company could make them. Blanks do exist because Ken at PG found them but I spent months looking and calling people and I couldnt find the source.

Regardless of cam/spring specs, we're rev limited by the ECU.

7,800RPM with AP
8,000RPM with Versatune

I have a set of Web cams that will go into my new motor, but I would definitely like to see more options out there.

Steve at Versatune can bump the limiter to whatever is needed, but we start to reach an injector limit where it just isnt possible to make more power.

Interesting because they mentioned something about the blanks. Where did you go looking for them? Would they have to come from the foundry that made them? Why can't they simply be machined out of a billet steel stock?

Something to be cautious about with crower, you mentioned the na mzr cams. The crower cams for our platform are known for being off center. So when you time them using the timing marks they are not set at a true 0. Some have seen the lobes advanced others retarded by up to a few degrees. A proper cam degree wheel is needed to double check this. Otherwise people have seen great gains on the na even FI engines with these cams.
