Default Please delete me - Cylinder Head Compatibility

Hello everyone. You can feel free to spank me for not writing an introduction thread as you wish.

Sorry, I just realized that I've posted this in the speed3 forum instead of speed6. My bad, I'd appreciate it if one of the mods can move this.

The car: 06 red speed6

Sad story: dealership tech didn't tighten oil plug, engine shot at 51k after 10 months of ownership and only 5000 miles of enjoyment. 2nd time in my life having service done by somebody other than myself, both times at a dealership garage, both times ended in misery. Dealership calls me a liar, not sure that it is worth taking legal action since the lawyer would be the only one who came out ahead.

Engine is knocking, smoking, missing, and probably not carrying much oil pressure as I'm sure that the mains were cooked in the 1/4 mile that I had to drive it dry to get off of the road. I did shut it of as soon as I safely could, but the valve-train and rotating assembly were making a lot of noise. It does run, but not like before. I am driving it as I have no alternative other than buying another car (I have 2 projects going right now... all of the KL engines). This was supposed to be the dependable backup car.

I've ordered a short block (a new one) a head set, timing set, etc. I'll obviously put on a new water pump, thermostat and buy the necessary gaskets.

My question is (since mazda doesn't sell a long-block or complete drop-in like with other engines): Was the cylinder head unique to the speed 6? Is there a part number for new (not reman) ready-to-run factory heads? Mazda sells bare heads, cams, valve seats, etc. It doesn't appear they have an entire ready-to-go cylinder head for these cars?!

I'm thinking that if the engine goes before I can get the short block in, then I'll have to deal with bent valves at the very least... which I don't have time to do. I'd rather just put an engine together and spend a day or two getting the old one out, swapping things over, and getting it back together.

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.
