Can you elaborate? How will this mount prevent the other mount from breaking?

Well, by replacing the stock mounts that are "potentially" bad, you, in effect, remove that possible weak link. The engine mounts are 3 parts that rely on one another to support the engine. For example, your tranny mount breaks, chances are good (not a certainty) that in the process of it breaking, your other mounts will follow suit.

Although the driver's side, or tranny mount, is the one that is breaking, it is reasonable to say that the passenger side was made with the same disregard for quality or 2nd grade engineering that the driver's side mount was made with.

To be direct, the passenger side mount will not necessarily prevent the driver's side from going, but it could fuckin hurt....

Is that better? I'm sure that really answered your question, but it was a shot, right?

That's what I thought you meant but I didn't want people to think that replacing this one somehow will prevent the notorious tranny mount from giving out. I'd even think that replacing this one before the tranny mount will put even more strain on it to fail, just food for thought.

if you doing something do it right....replace both of them so there are no chances of engine falling on the ground.....replacing one engine mount and leaving stock is like replacing rims and putting 18 inch aftermarket rim on left side and 16 inch oem rim on the other ...and like two diff engine mounts will cause huge problem....just my.02

I think your right. I'm hearing weird clunking sounds from drivers side and I think my drivers side is failing/loose since I've put on my rear motor mount...

I've had some cluning since i moved to st. louis in September. I dont think that it is the mounts, but i dont really drive the car that often anymore (thanks to carpooling), so i am very eager to get these mounts in.

The mount bolts to the engine so yes the ground does contact the engine. Everything in the engine bay has a purpose, lol. But, you don't have to use that very location or wire.
