Nut access slot looks like done by hand and a demel?

I can’t believe they would let a product get out looking like this. I know it may be functional but still that looks really bad.

phillyb 02-26-2009 04:03 PM

function > form
it works well. that's all i care about

bf360 02-28-2009 11:40 AM

do you guys who have a transmission mount have a weird sound at idle that you hear inside the car that goes away if you push in the clutch?

bioevolve 02-28-2009 01:09 PM

No, no unusual sound........unless something is hitting, touching, loose, or you have a bent rod? IDK, double check everything for tightness and clearance.

yes. the mount, being more solid, makes the tranny noises more apparent. when you installed a rear mount (assuming you have one) you probably heard the "exhaust note" change, right?
there were more vibes, and just more noise in general.
with the tranny mount, you're basically talking about the same thing. and yes, i experience the sound you're talking about.
this is my understanding. it'd be nice if others chimed in as well

ya it just seemed weird how it will go silent if i push in the clutch and if i let it out i hear this noice

ptperformance 02-28-2009 07:57 PM

Sorry about the hand cut slot guys, we rushed these and the rest will be lazer cut after we burn through the last 5 or 6 units.

Again sorry about the mix up on these but you should all feel better with the new mount in there. If you are upset with the looks that is understood, it will not effect the performance of the mount.

Common with dual mass flwwheels. Also you have the trans gears and what not spinning in neutral when you let the clutch out, when the clutch is in nothing is spining other then the clutch disc.

wisniaPl 03-01-2009 09:49 PM

its clutch bearing nothing unusal....

I have vibrations when letting off the gas above 3k RPM and 60 MPH or above. I'm guessing that's normal and thought it would go away after some time but its still there after a few months. Let me know if anyone else notices this. Other then that I love the mount.

Everyone has them once the tranny mount is replaced. You'll get used them. The stock mount was designed so soft to absorb vibrations like these. IMO, it's a small price to pay.

bf360 03-20-2009 12:49 PM

the darkstar tranny mount cocks my cpe rear mount to the side, i need cpe mounts for the front two asap, i think the engine being not in the exact spot is the casue of alot of the vibrations

First of all, it's Medieval's tranny mount, not Darkstar's.

Can could provide a pic of you CPE rear mount sitting cocked to one side?

steven88 03-20-2009 04:21 PM

i should take a look at mine too...i have the cp-e mount...no vibrations at all though...very smooth...i did break it in properly

bioevolve 03-20-2009 05:52 PM

Took the Medieval Tranny Mount out, it was causing my engine to be cocked.
http://www.freedomcomputers.net/ms3/...dievaltmm0.JPG
You can see the bushing to the right (which is the rear toward the firewall) the tranny is pushing back to go back to it original location.
http://www.freedomcomputers.net/ms3/...dievaltmm1.JPG
Pulled it out and installed the stock one.

Update:
I got off the phone with Medieval and gonna try another way of installing it and see if it fixes it.

Bio, my cpe rear mount is not cocked like yours...i wonder whats up?

bioevolve 03-21-2009 06:39 AM

I guess it's just me then or that drop with the V1 PMM caused the TMM to twist and it's staying that way. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

ptperformance 04-12-2009 03:07 PM

Bio, you can center the motor if you have the time to do this. You need to loosen both the pass and drivers side mounts, then loosen the middle mount (rear center mount). Move the motor left or right to get to the proper possition, and wallah your golden. Tighten down the fixed lower mount bolts (frame bolts) then tighten down the mount to braket bolts. We have had a few that had shifted pass side mounts due to the excessive movement from the stock mounts. This will get the center mount more straight on and seems to fix a little bit of the vibes from the motor.

So the cocked rear mount (being that it's aftermarket of course) can just be loosened and then retorqued?

Recall of passenger motor mount

Has anyone else had one hell of a time getting their replacement pmm from darkstar/medieval?? I have been told through numerous emails that my new mount is being shipped out this week(2 seperate emails, 2 seperate weeks) I've now been waiting 6 weeks since this recall and still no new mount shipped to me.:bs2: It's frustrating because the email responses from darkstar are quick and professional, but they don't follow through. Also the new mount is being sold for $25 cheaper than the original. Are they refunding that difference when they ship out the new mount?? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

bioevolve 04-26-2009 02:49 PM

As far as I know they are/were going thru employee restructuring.

I was told by Medieval yesterday that the last few V2 PMM that needed to be replaced came in form the coaters yesterday. I thought that all of the mounts were sent out, but I was corrected but Medieval once i posted that. PLEASE PM me your shipping address and your paypal email address, and I will get to the bottom of this ASAP. I don't like customers just sitting out there waiting for parts. It's not professional.

As for the price, we're actually losing money shipping out the new V2 versions to you. But profit, is not the main goal in this situation. it's making sure that you as the customer is satisfied and have a high quality product.

There was no employee restructuring, it's a ONE man show.

My PTP mount just shipped today, I'm so excited for it since my car is now in the shop from my stock bolt snapping in half and also snapping a bearing out of my axle

Linky for the place to buy the PTP tranny mount? Sorry, still new here. Would like to get this asap though as I'm sure my stock one is toast.

Just an update from a PTP tranny mount user, when I had the motor out (due to the KaBoom syndrome) I had all kinds of time to look at stuff.... anyhow, my PTP tranny mount with appox 20K miles on it, is in excellent shape. Just like the day I put it in.

jmonterr 04-01-2010 04:44 PM

It is a very good idea to upgrade to these brackets and mounts the oem bracket on my ms3 just broke and it is a piece of shit. you can see how poorly casted the aluminum is and there is a lot of porosity in the metal due to bad casting. I am planning to but these mounts and brackets asap

dead-zone 04-05-2010 11:24 PM

Very nice write up!!!
I had the Medieval motor mount.the performance is great. the car felt more powerful. Although I took the mount off right away on the next day. Lots of noise and vibrations.my dashboard sounded like is going to come off any second. And lots of noise from the clutch. I could not stand it even for a day. I would like to put after market one but just when I remember how my car was and I am back to the stock one :)
