Dealer told me Jiffy Lube didn't change my filter last time
 

So i took my car into the dealer for a servicing and while it was there got the oil changed. The tech at the mazda dealer called me back to show me my old filter. He said that it didn't look like jiffy lube changed my filter when i had my old changed last time.

I just got the oil changed at Jiffy Lube in January. I've driven just under 4k miles since then.

This is a pic of my filter. I'm not an expert, but this looks like this filter has had a lot more than 4k miles through it. Does anyone have a pic of a good, normal used MS3 filter?

I want to confront JL about this, but would like to show them what normal filter looks like after 3-5k miles.

Damn, I just changed my oil yesterday and the filter looked nothing like that, except for the dark oil. I changed it a little below 4k miles.

I knew I was gonna get shit for going to jiffy. It was January, and was snowing + I was given a gift cert for Xmas to them. Figured, if they don't have the filter or can't figure out where it is, they'd tell me.

I was wrong.

@el_guapo, you don't still have the filter that you can take a pic do you? I want to send it to the tards @jiffy corp in a side by side comparison with mine.

ive had my filter come out like that a few times. sometimes it was kinked like that, other times not.

I just blamed it on myself for probably overtightening the oil filter cap

why pay to do something like that

if you're out of town or something, buy oil and bring it to the dealer, its less than 15 bucks

pretty sure the dealer didn't change my filter the last time I went there. That was the last time, haven't been back since. I swapped to the spin on filters and do it myself.

Probably some new guy...never saw a cartridge filter before, thought "What the fuck is this shit?" and left it in.

SMH I guess OP missed the other thread where I told my jiffy lube horror stories from when I used to work there. Trust me when I say, that fucking place is the devil!

I have seen filters in these car do this, but only when a cheap one is used. The better filter will have a plastic cage inside which will help it keep its shape.

This filter could have had the damage done when it was put in, if the filter was installed dry and it kinked while the cap was being screwed on.

The filter in the op does not look like a mazda filter. If you need a pic, I have tons of them laying in my used oil filter bucket.

Also, I've NEVER had a Mazda filter come out twisted like that. The only ones that do it are some aftermarket filters, hence why I use Mazda filters in my car.

Perhaps a tech will forget to tighten down the drain plug or filter and bam, a Check for a new motor, haha. :)

yeah, i heard from their franchise corp office. It was a long conversation of me telling him that his people didn't change out the filter, him telling me I don't have the ability to know that just by looking at the picture and him bringing up useless facts about how my car had a chip in the windshield.....

He offered a Jiffy Lube gift certificate, but refused a refund. I plan to give to someone i don't like....
