Deepest Exhaust Hey guys, I've searched and such over the site but what I'm looking for doesn't seem to be on here. Which exhaust (turbo back) makes the deepest note from this engine? Corksport seems to be the closest to what I want, but I just wanted to tap into this forums vast knowledge before I made my final decision. Thanks guys. EDIT: Before I get flamed for wanting an exhaust before other more needed mods I am going to get a high flow fuel pump and replace the motor mounts. This is my DD and I just want to maximize the enjoyment I get from driving it all the time, and a nice deep exhaust would do that for me. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk |
3" straight through. |

Sidenote, how do you like your grids? Think you could have squeezed 9.5's on? |

Maybe take a look at the Ultimate Racing exhaust. There are 3 youtube clips of it for the 1st Generation MS3 and a few for the 2nd Gen. It looks well made, nice welds, flanged, tip comes out at an angle (not for everyone though), with a nice angled cut, tip is bigger but not huge, and sounds good. |
turboxs seems the loudest to me |
My god, that Txs sounds like shit. It sounds like there's no exhaust. I've got a CS DP + RP into the stock, uncut catback. It is surprisingly deep, quality and mellow. It's the best 4 cylinder sound I've ever heard. |

Stock downpipe, gutted second cat, Magnaflow catback I have a review thread around here somewhere. |
the magnaflow sounds pretty good |
I am fairly satisfied with it. Best part is since there aren't any resonators anymore, rolling up the windows and hitting certain rpm ranges results in almost zero cabin noise from the exhaust. It's quieter with the windows up, and MUCH louder with them down. |
i personally think the Corksport turboback and DP with Magnaflow CBE are the deepest and most powerful sounding...BEST SOUNDING, as well |
Currently have the stock exhaust with the resonators removed, and just installed the CS Downpipe today actually, and wow what a difference in exhaust note and power. Quite impressed. Will be getting the rest of the CorkSport system soon after I install the FMIC kit from them. They have me sold. |

Subaru, but with the right exhaust it can get that sort of note. I will probably go for the full "Power Series" exhaust from Corksport. |
subaru? You want gurgle then I assume. CS turboback will help - but I would personally go CS downpipe, UR catted test/race pipe, and CS exhaust. Maybe have an exhaust shop weld in a resonator. CS downpipe has the divorced WG housing, which contributes to gurgle from what I can tell. Catalytic converter keeps it sane/saves on emissions inspections. CBE is for the sound so do what you will. Magnaflow keeps it pretty reasonable so maybe go with them. I dunno, my expertise is limited to internet clips. |
CS TBE it is! |
Ill just go on record and say I have the turboxs cbe. Listen.............Its fuckin LOUD. It does have nice deep suby gurgle..but it drones and hgihway trips are a bitch...if you like a exhaust where you gotta turn your stereo up 3/4 way @70mph to drown it out, then youll love it. |
In all honesty I'm sorta kicking myself for not getting something AWD such as an '11 STi or EVO, but I bought my speed for $15,000.00 with 13,000 miles AND with a warranty to 100,000 on everything that matters. And its an 08.5 GT in Fantastic condition. My goal is to make it as satisfying to drive as my RX-8 |
Pretty good deal on the ms3. Obviously your a Rotary man...so dont know if the ms3 will ever be as fun. depends on your version of fun. But your already more powerful than your rx8 with just a intake, so maybe get some nice coilovers-suspension goodies. Nice rubber and light wheels, motor mounts and accessport. Get rid of the stock tune, and you should have plenty of fun. |
That's pretty much my plan. I like the car a lot as is and it is VERY quick. I will say however my 8 is infinitely more fun to drive than almost any car I've driven with the exception of my cousins 911 Turbo (BEAST). I'm putting 9.5 or ten inch wide volks or rota's on my 8 then swapping my 18' Tenzo's to my Speed which will cover wheels and tires. Motor mounts are a definite as are coilovers. AP isnt a bad idea,I already have one with a tune for my 8. Those all and an exhaust will finish up all I intend to do to my Speed (+a fuel pump) My 8 however is getting ported and going for a 8,000 FI build next year putting it up to about 400rwhp, that however is my long term project. I take money out of every paycheck so I'm getting a 5 digit tax return. In the short term the body needs work so I'm going against my core beliefs and putting an aftermarket kit on it. When I'm done the damn thing will be literal sex on wheels. It already blows fire. |

These things>still going to be slow rx8 These things<FD rx7 |
The CorkSport full turbo back is the shit for low tones. Still the best sounding exhaust for the MS3, hands down. Gives the car a deep, throaty tone with plenty of balls at wot. |
Agreed. I have the corksport cbe (rp/dp soon) and I'm jealous of the drivers around me that get to hear it in all it's glory without stupid floorboards and doors in the way. |
Greddy blue tip is the best sounding CBE in my opinion. You're in NJ right? You should come to a NATOR NJ meet and listen to it. |

An FD is on my list of future builds, after a few other cars. I don't drag, or street race. My 8 is the first car I ever bought myself so my love is eternal, and I plan on tracking it. |
