Denso IVT22-$36

I decided to check my local Advance auto parts for the denso ivt22's and was surprised to pay only $36 including tax. If you need some asap though, go somewhere else since they dont stock them. They had to order them straight from denso. just thought i would share.

armarine04 10-22-2009 07:53 AM

whats the difference between IVT 22 and IVT 20 because the denso website recommends the 20s for the MS3 and why would they be better?

802MS3 10-22-2009 08:21 AM

IVT22 is one step colder, you should use those if youre running more than stock boost

TongMan 10-22-2009 08:40 AM

Are these the same plugs for our Mazdaspeed3?

Not necessarily, we are using stock plugs in ours.

Is that something I should get considering my mods in sig? (stock boost)

802MS3 10-22-2009 12:46 PM

You have similar mods to me. I don't run them, but I don't think it could hurt. Like E4 said, its all up to the driver.

mo4130 10-22-2009 01:14 PM

whats the point of them?

khris2476 10-27-2009 12:57 PM

the 22's reduce knock but foul quicker, ive stuck to stock replacement denso or ngk.

Frequentflyer 10-28-2009 05:18 PM

Stock or 22's work well. I even had 24's in there and didn't have a problem until recently when I started having high RPM misfire once I upped the boost with the AP. I had about 20,000 miles on the 24's though. I replaced them with 22's the other day and my misfire went away. I found my 24's were gapped around >.032, which was probably causing some spark blowout at high RPM/high boost.

how about these...$25.95 +$6 shipping = $31.95 unless there is CA tax this is the cheapest i've found for ITV-22

SkwidKid007 06-19-2010 06:25 PM

What should the denso ivt22 be gapped at with the cobb ap on 18-16lbs with sri/inlet pipe

R.MS3 06-19-2010 07:16 PM

.026-.028

SkwidKid007 06-20-2010 06:30 PM

thanks.. i hve the plugs on the way along wit a cobb sri... this should get interesting...

R.MS3 06-21-2010 10:45 PM

Get ATR and begin tuning on your own, that's my best advice. You will be able to tune the car the way you want. Without a lot of mods, i would do that for now.

They're updating some stuff for ATR to correct the load cap so you should wait a bit until they do it if you go that route.

Do a MAF cal. ASAP because that SRI will make your trims go way up.

thanks for the good $$$ on denso !

was this aimed towards me? if so whats ATR?

R.MS3 06-24-2010 06:37 AM

Yes... it's a tuning software that will enable you to tune the car with an AP, the way you want to. It's free once you get an AP.

With the Cobb SRI, some guys get a CEL for too lean because the trims go over +20%. It's just more air coming in through the MAF and the stock tune can't handle it.

SkwidKid007 06-28-2010 11:06 AM

o ok... i haven't got a cel yet and ive ran the piss out of my car since putting it on... but i will download this program... hell i haven't datalogged the first pass yet since ive retuned...

SkwidKid007 06-28-2010 12:44 PM

Just changed plugs... they were pre gapped to .028... so i figure thats good... i started the car and it idle a hell of alot better... havnt taken it around yet... can i expect any gains with the SRI and TIP with the ap 93 tune?
