Did u notice a lot more traction with RMM install? I'm trying to figure this out. Last summer, before my Rear Motor Mount and on tires that had 7k miles on them, I'd roast the crap out of them in 2nd gear. Now I've added a CP-e RMM (60dur) and rotated the tires and the difference is amazing. Even way WAY better than my car new, with new tires on it. Add to that that I also added several new things at the same time as the RMM. A Cobb TIP, HPFP internals & ITV22's. So I was especting for the tires to still let lose. I'm worried something's wrong but also maybe this is just the RMM really putting it down. Did everyone notice this huge gain in traction from just a RMM? btw... never had an issue with wheel hop. Just spin-spin-spin. I'm doing a compression and lead-down test tomorrow just for peace of mind. |
i'd like to know this too.. im planning to order my RMM soon... |
Yeah the MM gave me alot of traction back also. even tho its doesnt show on the dyno sheet i think its a great starter mod. |
If there's just not something wrong with my car (I'll find out tomorrow) then as I said, the difference is phenomenal. Almost too much more traction to believe, which is why I'm doing the compression and leak-down test tomorrow, because I honestly do not believe that just a RMM can give me THAT much more traction. Something has to be wrong. |
Maybe other factors are playing a role if you're just looking for the tires to chirp...like weather/tempterature etc. The mount stiffened up your drivetrain fo' sho! I had what felt like a completely new car after the RMM went in and threw on some Toyo ZR1's. Plus, my bushing in the stocker was shredded and I couldn't tell the difference from the day I bought the car compared to the day before I switched mounts, which kinda scared me. Crappy mounts... |
Not chirp. Used to, in 2nd, from a roll, not dropping the clutch or anything, like 3,500k just mash the gas pedal and it would literally just light them up, spinning like crazy till I shifted, then it would spin a few rotations in 3rd, and bark hard in 4th. Now, nothing. Mash the gas and barely a squeel, if any. 3rd with chirp but that's it. 4th nothing. It's just hard to believe I'm getting that much more traction b/c I added 3 new mods as the same time, the Cobb TIP, the HPFP and the ITV22's. I know I also rotated the tires at the same time and for SURE that helped a lot too, but I just don't know. It seems to not pull as hard as the old days. But people say I'm just used to the power now. But for piece of mind I have to test it tomorrow. I can't throw more money at it till I know. If the RMM can do that, then wow. It's amazing and I agree, should definitely be one of the first mods, if not THE first. More traction = faster. Better shifting = faster. Less tire spin = more tire last longer. I'm just skeptical, which is why I'd like to hear stories of others who have done the RMM and how much more traction they attained. |
its the mount |
So you gained similar traction too? Can anyone give me an anecdote to the before and after on their car after a new RMM install in regards specifically to traction. |
idk how specific to traction this is but... before I had the RMM, I wouldnt touch the DSC button if I thought of punching it in the city... I tried it once and there was a tiny crack on the road... it fukin threw my out of control it was scary... accelerating with little irregularities on the road was insane... now that I have the RMM... I can feel the cracks on the road... but even with DSC off... I can punch it hard and it doesnt move my steering wheel so abrupt. ... my shifting from 1st to 2nd gear felt like night and day... like a different car. Quote:

^^ i think thats the mount. it gives u a better weight ratio front to back off the line so youre torque steer is tamed much better. |
upgrade the tranny mount for even better pulls. |
lol, I probably couldn't break 'em loose in 1st with another gain in traction like the RMM provided. heh Of course, that would be wonderful, but I don't think I'm going to see another traction gain like THAT again. Which one you recommend? PTP, Medievil? |
