Default Different test pipes

Over at streetunit, the guys are complaining that the streetunit test pipe isn't lining up properly and it's making the install take that much longer. Is the TurboXS pipe doing the same thing? I noticed that the TurboXS is slanted and it looks like it has a flex pipe on it, so I would assume that fitment wouldn't be a problem.

What he ^ said. I have the corksport and alignment was an issue at first but I fixed it now. If I had to do it again I would probably go SU for a stock setup.

SU test pipe seems to be well-received.

i don't have a TP but i've been considering it periodically. the SU is prolly the one i'd go for. i haven't pulled the trigger b/c of smoking turbo concerns as well as there's no concrete verdict as to whether the noise/power improvements are worthwhile.

SU testpipe is worth every penny period. Alingnment is perfect as well as quality and finish of the welds. I dont have a jack or jack stands so i paid 10 bucks to have a local shop throw it up there and in under 2 minutes i was off the lift. Total i spent was worth it and the power i now have after 3k, noise is noticed sometime on decel and upon startup but buy a catback if you want noise. Turbos dont smoke with testpipes only downpipes i thought?
If it smokes take it off and to the dealer for a turbo swap

I've had my SU test pipe on for some time now.

The install was a breeze, fitment was spot on. The hp/tq gains and extra volume were there, but don't expect a night and day difference. It definitely is a mod you should consider if you aren't planning on doing a full DP. The cost/hp ratio is damned good with a test pipe.

I think a test pipe and intake are 2 of the easiest and greatest mods for the money on this car. I have a TXS TP with a TXS Dp so I dont have a issue but some have had problems with the txs test pipe leaking with the stock Dp. The SU TP seems like a great product and worth the money. Some must have mods for this car are a Testpipe,Intake, rear motor mount and solid shifter bushings and maybe a new bpv but thats just a maybe. All of those are easy to remove for dealer visits and will give you some nice power gains..

enjoy

Bah just buy it. It really isn't a HUGE diff in power, but the sound and smoothness of HP is nice.

Also don't believe the b.s. of "exhaust upgrades make your turbo smoke" that's a bunch of bullshit. If you upgrade your exhaust and it smokes then u'r turbo was smoking before. The cat will do a good job of hiding the smoke.

Im not so sure about that...Lots of people think these turbos need some back pressure and if you have no cats you have no back pressure or not enough.I dont think anyone has any hard core evidence on what is making the turbos smoke tho.

I've had a couple people not follow the directions and call us up pissed off that the pipe doesn't fit, when I've had a 100% success rate. Turns out they put it on backwards.

i'm sure it is, but something more specific? I'm looking into a test pipe and narrowing down my options trying to figure if it is worth paying $50 more for the same pipe.

There is no proof. I still call bullshit on that, no turbo needs back pressure that I've seen. Who started saying the exhaust upgrades cause smoke anyways? If the turbo is going to smoke, it's going to smoke. Only thing you are doing is hiding it with a restrictive exhaust system. I also say the turbos are shitty anyways if that helps.

LOL that's great, those weren't just packing materials? Opps
BTW for anyone ordering the test pipe make you get it from StreetUnit, mine fit great and was at my door in no time flat. Thanks Mark and/or whoever did my order! Also free plug for streetunit.

After I sell my CS DP/RP combo, I might come back for an SU test pipe...The CS stuff fits/works great, I just need to free up some money quick.

to be totally honest? I need money for rings/bumper plates/kettle bells. I'm building a home gym and I need to liquidate and get some cash. don't get me wrong, the CS DP combo is awesome. Alot of people agree that it makes the most power out of all the setups- of course, we're only talking a 5 +/- HP variance. Ask palerider. He'll tell you. It's a great setup...I just need money and I have too many hobbies lol.

CS pipe just needs some masaging to seal right. Sometimes the flange between the RP/CBE dont align properly. Make sure you use the right hardware and assemble loose first. Tighten the cbe end first and the dp side. After that mine has been flawless. Initial install had a small minor leak but still anoying.

ok, so I'm not looking to upgrade the downpipe, just the testpipe, so my best bet would be for the Corksport or the Streetunit?

Downpipe install takes too long and is difficult to remove and replace when dealership visits occur.

If had to do it over I'd probably go with SU. Mark get's his parts done right first time around. His prices are usually free shipping too so take that in account.

About 2 inches to short and not worth it. You should drop by PG sometime and we can nail down a mod plan.

was actually hoping for su mark to confirm whether speedaction has copied his test pipe since his fits the best based on forum feedback.

jeff, let me know when pg's corksport and sls test pipes fit as well as su's (i.e. no leak videos).

i have had wonderful buying experiences from both you guys (su & pg), but (a) i'm not going to overpay and (2) i'm not buying something that doesn't fit.
