Default Do the mz3 and ms3's share the same Passenger Motor Mount?

I was lead to believe (back then when i was really into my ms3) that MS3's shared mostly everything other then suspensions and the obvious engine stuff.

But what about passenger motor mounts? Mine is blown and oil pretty much everywhere. I already paid the shop $800 for them to replace the CV axles on both side as well as the wheel bearings so I plan on doing the PMM replacement myself. I dont want to keep spending too much on repairs as of right now, i plan on selling my MS3 in Feb-March. In my early research, i found that mz3 and ms3's had different part numbers and for each mount but looked identical. Most sites that had the compatibility chart didnt have the ms3 and mz3 listed together in terms of mounts. But i stumbled upon this Engine Motor Mount Front RH Right Passenger Side for Mazda 3 5 2.0L 2.3L for $30 bucks and 10 yr warranty. Im kinda skeptical as OEM ms3 PMM ive seen range between $160-250. The listing says the the MS3 is COMPATIBLE with the listed passenger motor mount. If it fits and holds then im fine... im not really looking down 20,000+ as the car should be sold or traded in by then.

Has anyone had expierence with motor mounts that fit bot mz3 and ms3?

Yes I am about 99% sure they are the same besides the ground wire if I remember correctly.

You could either buy that one... or go VIP and buy someones stock used one. If you had gone VIP you could have also saved a bunch of money on the cv axles 800 sounds a bit rough when I'm pretty sure you can find them for around 100 used on here.

That mount looks right, and I've seen other mounts for less than the $160-250 that you suggest. The trick is that the OEM mounts that cost as much as you mention are oil-filled while the aftermarket ones that are less expensive are not. As such they could at least be expected to not coat your engine bay in crud when they fail, but no telling on their actual durability. Also, the NVH performance will probably be worse than stock, though not worse than the harder aftermarket mounts.

Hopefully that helps in your decision to try the cheap aftermarket ones vs. go VIP and try to get a stocker etc.

it was actually $400 for the cv axle including parts and labor and like $320 for both wheel bearing and a stabilizer bar. Could have done the stablilizer bar myself but i was lazy lol. I think the $400 on the CV axle job was worth it considering I dont have a garage at my condo and pep boys was trying to charge me $500 just for labor.

What purpose is the oil? To reduce vibration? I saw this http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-2004-201...2338#vi-ilComp but thought twice since it didnt list as ms3 compatible

I doubt they are the exact same. I am sure that the MPS version is different being as they are double the price and more than double the power output. Physical appearance they may be but i am sure the actual make up is different.

Yes presumably the oil fill in an hydraulic engine mount is to reduce the vibration transmitted to the structure of the car. Note the oil is softer than having more solid material, and has high damping (as opposed to, say, just leaving the space empty for example). Plus as an added convenience to an OEM they can probably tune the response by the oil weight.

Dang. Didn't know there were selling 2 different oem versions, one with and without oil. Thought they all had oil. Would had made sure to get the one with oil then but too late. Only a few more months with this car.

I finally got time to replace the PMM with the one from ebay. The one i recieved looked identical but smaller.

I did notice that the MS3 OEM one had a ground wire attached and a black plastic thing as pictured here

Anyone know what the purpose of the black plastic one is for?
