Most states that do OBDII testing allow one "not ready" and this mod is relatively easy to reverse.

That's correct. Just pull the shorter coolant line all the way off and connect the longer line to the other tube. If you do it quickly, you spill very little coolant. I messed up and dropped the line more than once, so I had to add a couple of quarts of coolant to top it off when I was done.
bnoon, can you get the nipple covers to plug the tb coolant holes from an auto parts store? you have intrigued me with your 30 below experiences and have me leaning towards the tb coolant bypass.

Sorry to barge in on a question specific to bnoon, but most auto parts stores carry an assortment pack of vacuum caps in all sizes.

Dont bother. Just follow the way bnoon said. It really is a stupid simple mod. 100% reversible in 5 mins if you keep the short hose.

If you have a pep boys local to you, I've gotten an assortment pack.

AFAIK, picking up a few packs of what looks reasonably close will cost in the neighborhood of $2.00.

They are rubber, so stretching them to fit is pretty easy, my point being, it is best to err on the small side, than purchase one too big.

This won't lead to air bubbles getting into the system continuously will it?

I've read guys having problems after doing it (air bubbles), but I've done it to a 350z years ago, with no issues.

Skates, you said that you failed inspection? Did you mean to say emissions as VA has inspections and emissions and mine are not at the same time. I'd just like some more info on the topic and if it was due to the Cobb AP not ready state. You are allowed one not ready state so I would not think that is the issue.

Does coolant sit in the throttle body when the car is cold? As long as you take the hoses off and vise grip them, should any coolant spill out of the TB?

No need to cap off the TB ports. I've never done it on any of my TB's that I've bypassed and never had any deterioration or other issues. Just blow it out with an air hose if you're worried about coolant being left in there.

so i did the TIG throttle body spacer install + the coolant bypass

I bought a brass fitting and disconnected them both and attached them both. they have metal clamps on them but my fitting may have been a tad small because i had a tiny leak one 1 side. when i lift the connection a little higher...the leak goes away. so i threw a ziptie on each end in addition and i saw no further drip.

I bought some shelf end fittings cause their mad cheap and they come in mad sizes and i capped the 2 nipples on the throttle body

i think thats about it.

i took approximately three 3rd gear logs beforehand. Ill post some logs later on when i get a chance.

but i took a short drive and all the data looks ok. gonna wait a bit to get on it. but the coolant temp was normal...fuel trims were mostly ok but still settling...intake temps were aight...boost temps were aight...but since i didnt get on it its kinda hard to tell. i just wanted to make sure nothing was loose or whatever.

I don't see how the TIG throttle body spacer would do anything. Wont hurt, but I doubt it does anything. The intake manifold spacer is another story. That thing works wonders. I have two of them in place and see cooler BAT's and the manifold is cold to the touch after driving.

^^ the catless dp will not give you any cel if you use a o2 bung extender. Its not like you have to turn the cel off in atr, it just does not show up. I ran a catless dp for like 30k untuned with no cel, then like another 10k on the sb with no cel.

Correct. My DP came with an extended bung, and it didn't work. Had to use the AP to turn off the code.

Back to the egr topic. I feel like my car is running rich now. Sometimes when i stop at idle its in the 15's... but its still mostly 14.6. TONS of soot on my tailpipe, but that may still be accumulating from the seafoam treatment. There are two codes that throw when you block the EGR, P0401 and U2064. Ones for the actual EGR (that can be deleted) the other a network comm failure that cannot be deleted. Ive read some cars are just unfortunate (like mine) and will throw the cel with just u2064 even if P0401 has been removed. I have an ap, i removed the code, i still get a cel... and i cant deal with having to clear it everytime i drive. I'm going to reinstall the plate to make sure its not leaking, but if i still have the cel afterwards ill be putting the pipe back on for sure.

I have never thrown the U2064 with the EGR blocked. At least the DH doesn't display that code. That sounds like an AP issue. No way EGR would throw a Network com error.

http://forums.cobbtuning.com/forums/...rown-this-code

NM...just saw you posted in that thread too.

^^^ thanks for clearing that up. Just realized I didn't mention it. Apparently the only people who get it are ap users... Not all but some. But you need an ap to clear the p0401 code... I'm installing a img soon. Im going to be taking a part my entire intake assembly again, reinstalling the egr block off, and double check all of my connections. I'm fairly confident it's being thrown as a result of the p0401 code not existing.
