Engine/Transmission mount installers take heed.

When the people on this forum tell you the bolts used for motor mounts and the transmission mount on our cars are shit, listen to them. When the people on this forum tell you to be careful, listen to them. And most importantly, when the people on this forum tell you not to use any tools but ratchets for removal and torque wrenches for re-install, for fucks sake, listen to them.

Don't be this guy (me):

That right there is the mutherfucking bolt that goes into the motherfucking brace that attaches the stock motherfucking mount to the motherfucking transmission. Fuck you Mazda.

Long story short, with removal of that brace, I was able to have a friend drill and retap the brace, and upgrade the shitty bolt for one that would hold a tank.

I'm not the first on this forum to do this, and I'm sure I won't be the last, but I hope to god someone searches and finds this before fucking shit up like me. Happy ending: The new Street Unit mounts are in and working great. My car sounds like a supercharged drag car, but I'm wheel hop free.

I haven't heard anything about the bolts being poor quality, just the mounts, I personally reused all the bolts, a few times now, and havent had any problems. Looks like bad luck and user error to me, I wouldn't be concerned if I were someone else looking to install a mount.

Btw not trying to be rude, as this sounds like something I would do as well, just haven't yet.

Well for a while it was that bolt that was breaking until Mazda did the tsb, so they are pretty shit.

I think I remember at least one or two other threads of someone snapping the bolt, but this was essentially on removing it with a power tool with not so much pressure that it should have done that. Either way though, I agree with you Scar, they should work repeatedly without issue. It very well could have been that mine was in poor shape or slightly off at the top. What's strange and you can only see a bit of it in the pic, the actual shear is really only shiny in one spot along a side, the rest of the bolt just gave out once that broke. It almost looked like it had snapped previously, but it was in place. I don't know how a bolt could do that.

It's now replaced with a heavier and slightly wider grade 5 bolt. If that ever breaks I'll be surprised. For what it's worth, it's a bitch of a time drilling those things out. If I had done this on something on the block ... It would have been a very bad day.
