evac JEGS Crankcase Evacuation Kit - JEGS (done at the DP of course) I have used this product on 3 of my muscle cars (yes daily drivers and dedicated strip cars as well) anyone consider trying this for our purposes? |
wtf is it and does it do exactly? looks interesting |
it uses the exhaust gas speed to pull a vacuum from a metal tube that is angled (and welded into) into the DP (acuatlly header collector on muscle cars) a hose is attached from the tube to the crankcase....breather on valve cover, pcv valve..whatever........and it basically sucks the air out of your crankcase.....it could perhaps also suck oil out if put in the wrong location especially too close to where oil pools up....but thats easily fixed with the right location and a baffling chamber that will allow air to climb up but not the oil. I honestly think this is more effective than anything I have seen yet and its wasted free energy that we just dump out the tailpipe. |
this seems like a good idea we just need somebody to test it out... |
its been used for decades guys. its not like its a newsflash. its proven to work |
good fucking idea..someone needs to try this |
i am really loving this avatar one up contest we got going on |
i've heard this is a bad idea on turbo cars because the surges in exhaust gas pressure can pull oil out |

thanks - i was asking about this in the other thread too b/c i'm doing a rebuilt k04 and not gonna put it on until i have a real solution to the pcv issue |

decreasing the backpressure (no cats) is what has exposed the pcv messing up the oil flow through the turbo in the first place - if you run a cat you don't even have this issue as much - this whole solution is for someone who doesn't want cats |
sounds like a bad idea on our cars sense they loose so much air, oil and fuel pass the rings causeing alot of blowby crap to recirc into our intakes. by sucking that blowby air with oil and gas in it into the exhaust system your losing quite abit of air that was metered by the mafs, just like having a leak in your intake system. if that crankcase air is not recirculated back into the intake after the mafs your car might run funny and throw engine lights, plus all the oil and gas pumping into your exhaust will cause smoke and a an awful smell from the back of your car. this trick is only good for older cars with no mafs or turbos. using a nice oil catch can set up wold be the best way to stop oil, fuel and crap from getting inside your motor plus your still recirculating the cleaner filtered air so that your mafs and ecu wont freak out. hope this helps. |
lots of people run catch cans (some folks even 2) and vent their crankcase (including me) and it doesn't solve the problem - hopefully Mazda's solution will be a better one |
Wow this was a lOng time ago. I've been running a Venturi pipe for almost 10k now and seems to work well. No cats on my car and I do have a cc hooked up. |
Pics or it doesnt exist |
Haha I've already posted pics of it. My build thread has it or my bt three thread. I'll put some news ones up for you guys. |
3 Attachment(s) The catch can inlet is connected to the pcv. I have the catch can outlet Y'ed off. One goes to the IM with a moroso check valve. The other goes to the venturi pipe with check valve. |
For some reason I remember someone on here doing quite a bit of testing with this.......hmmmmm....... HAHAHAHA!! |
:) wonder who I got this from.. hmmmmmmmm |
^so is that effective at keepin oil outta your intake mani? i'm runnin 2 catch cans and still haz gunky valves |
Yes, but only when 2 check valves are used, one on the intake manifold, and of course one on the exhaust venturi.... |
Haven't had my mani off in awhile so don't know about gunk. We will see soon I guess. |
