evo 9 4g63 swap? This will probably get alot of flack, but whatever. Ive been conciddering trying a 4g63 swap. I have a stock short block from my old evo sitting in my shop along with my cousins evo 8 transmission and tranfercase (leftover from his shep swap). I dont think anyone has ever tried to do a motor swap, or at least I havent found any. I dont plan to do this unless my motor goes boom, if at all, but if it would work it would open all sorts of high power doors. Let me know your opinion Edit: I would do an awd swap as well. |
good luck. |

Yes it's doable. I was gonna go this route over the winter but decided to stay with the MZR. The only good way to do the swap and keep it FWD is to use the speed transmission. This is because for 1 it's far far superior to the Evo Trans and 2, it allows you to used two of our 3 stock motor mounts. Yes this will fit, you just need to make the bell housing adapter. You'll also need to wire up a stand alone, but that's not a huge deal. There's obviously a lot more to it and I may still do this someday just for kicks but for now, with the power and gearing now available for the MZR, I no longer see much reason for the swap, other than to be unique and have a forward facing turbo. Btw I have a built 9 4g63 and aem stand alone sitting in my garage which is what prompted this, most of the work is already done per say. |
I have a built 4G63 and AEM standalone in my garage as well, but fuck that. The MZR will support plenty of power. Not worth the work unless you are shooting for stupid power, which in FWD is (let's face it) stupid. |
