Failed transmission mount? Ok I've been having issues of torque steer even under light throttle lately. Tried absolutely everything from new lower arm bushes, tyres, alignment etc etc - everything. CP-e rear motor mount looks fine still. My mount above the transmission seems like it's failed. The front of the rubber boot has split and if you put your fingers underneath the mount you can move the rubber bush all over the place, almost pull it half out of the mount. When I rev the car stationary there looks to be loads of movement on that side of the motor too. So I'm guessing the bush shouldn't move around like that? |
TRZ Drivers Side Transmission Mount - Revolution Performance Motorsports! this is a known issue with as much power as your car makes you should have gotten side mounts awhile go |

Are the streetunit ones ok? Quite good price for both mounts. Also, is there a 'how to' guide for replacement? |
I dont have any experience with side mounts...i can only say that certain ones are typically better than others...most are good just dont buy anything from "Minerva Motorwerks" personally...im waiting on side mounts from @jbarone...he says they will be released hopefully around late summer/early fall but with your power levels...you should atleast swap that tranny mount...i provided you a link to the cheapest...and strongest one...but it also vibes and whines the most out of any of them the TRZ could hold you over until SURE and JBarone release their side mounts. CP-E side mounts are a hell of a lot cheaper at therpmstore.com also and a how-to?? yes there are how-to's...but you can search for those...heres a hint...gen1 mazdaspeed > how to > mazdaspeed3 tutorial database |

Ok trz have their transmission mounts on a 3 week delay, can't get hold of protege and street unit don't make theirs anymore. Last nite I strengthened my tmm with chemical metal and the engine now hardly moves when revving stationary, but my car still pulls to the left. Its like torque steer but even off boost. Put foot on clutch and it runs straight. The car pulls hard to the left under boost, but then wobbles back centre when you let off the gas. Had tyres replaced, lower suspension arms etc all done. Do you think my cp-e rmm might be failing by running 330bhp with no side mounts?? Really need help guys.... |
take out the rmm and take a look at it there have been some others who put a lot of miles on them and they end up looking shredded but i cant imagine why it would pull to one side or the other take the rmm out and take pics of it so we can see id go ahead and order a JBarone dogbone rear motor mount...the stiffer one...then send in the CPE for bushing replacement...then sell that fucker for more than what the JBarone cost |
Ok rmm off. It's mint still. But...... Swapped rear right wheel and front right wheel over and it's now pulling to the right not left. The rear right wheel had a new tyre on it as I thought that wheel was the issue when I investigated last month but the new tyre didn't fix it. So a warped or distorted wheel maybe? |

due to the OEM rear neg camber your rear tires get worn on the inside more than the outside on daily driving. Not so much in the front. You need to rotate them every 3-5K. If you put the rear wheel on a flat surface I would guess it falls inward. |
I ordered my TMM from the RPM store and was delivered within 3 days. Install was cake, took about 20 - 30 Minutes. Doesn't sound like that is your problem, but it is definitely a worthwhile purchase. +1 on the vibes and whine. It feels like a tank. But it's manageable. |
Quick update - pair of brand new tyres on the front and it stopped. My fronts were only 50% worn but one or both must have had some kind of defect. |
I was going to say "check the PSI". One larger tire will do this. Glad you fixed it though |
sounds like an issue im having. If i let off gas, the car sways just a little to right every time. Possible transmission mount or engine mount perhaps? |
Take the battery out, remove tray, Post pics. |
