fixed EGR - still have an issue

Props to Raider for his EGR write - up. Had a CEL few weeks ago and cleared it, figured it was nothing. Two weeks ago, had a CEL again, figured I better take my girl to the dealer. They said P0401, tested the EGR, which they said tested fine, but they had no idea what was up. Invoice said possible aftermarket parts. They charged me 100.00 for doing nothing. Awesome. Read Raider's post and did the procedure, serviced my EGR. Now my car idles smooth, and my CEL is gone. But here's the thing. Upon disassembly, my stock turbo outlet hose clamp was not tight, and the plastic outlet part had a pretty thick layer of black, oily crud on it, clearly from the loose hose clamp. So I put her back together and took her for a rip. In the lower gears, she fuckin rips. Huge improvement, car has never pulled so hard in the lower gears. I'm such a tool. Car has 100,000 Km on her, all at my hands, and even tho I was aware of this potential factory defect, I never checked the clamp. So here's my issue. In 6th, after, say 3000 RPM, WOT will pull really hard for a couple of seconds, then hesitate, pull hard, then hesitate. Feels like it really wants to go, but something is really holding it back. I'm hoping that someone in Red Deer (or Calgary) has a DH that we can plug in, because I'm thinking CDFP. I'm thinking fuel. My mods are MS CAI, Forge BPV, ETS 3.25 TMIC. Car is my DD, I don't track it, just the odd street race, I do run it hard on occasion, but nothing serious. I know something is wrong, but am looking for just a bit of help. Its funny, because although it's always pulled hard, and never really lost against much more expensive cars, I've always felt, since new, that it could run much stronger. Please feel free to chime in. Thanks for your imput.

Probably ign timing. Its nothing to worry about.

it's either fuel or boost cut. think about buying a dh or aeroforce scangauge so you can see boost and fuel pressure. if it's the latter, upgrade your cdfp (kmd / ptp).

i can pull my DH out of my car if you want to do some logs.

+1 on getting logs. It might be fuel cut, but you need to find out first, before you spend $. I had a CAI, ETS TMIC, and BOV and no fuel cut. But looking at logs, I had knock. lots of it. Some 1 step colder plugs fixed that right up,and even after I went FMIC, no fuel cut based on data logs.

One other thing that might help, is the ECU might need the latest flash. $80 at dealer out of warranty, was my quote. I said fuck that, and a friend loaded an AccessPort. Did not save my stock map. Then unmarried the AP. It loaded the latest stock map they have. I got a lot smoother of a drive, and now get 26 MPG, up from 23-24. Wild.

PS, glad my EGR how to helped you out!

today is said screw it, ordered an ap. fuel pump might be next, depending what the ap tells me. thanks to all of you for the advice!
