Flat foot shifting

Ive enabled flat foot shifting at several different rpms and can never get it to work for me. While moving i push the clutch pedal in and rev it up and it hits my 5300rpm ffs redline so i know its actually working. My LC also works while I'm stopped so i know that both my redline's are working. When I'm WOT and try to FFS i push the clutch while still WOT and my rpm's just fly up to 6700.

Am i missing something? Should i try shifting slower and burn the clutch more than i already am to hit the ffs rpm? I know people are gonna say there's no reason to ffs with a small turbo that spools quick but every bit helps.

I don't know what your doing, but whatever it is your doing it wrong.

Set your FFS rpm to the RPM you expect when you shift up (~4500), floor it in 3rd, keep it floored to ~6000 rpm, push in the clutch and shift to 4th. Its a little unnerving the first few times you do it but at the track my car likes it better than not FFS.

Here are my values;
FFS Rev Limiter 4500 RPM
LC Rev Limiter 4000 RPM
Rev Limiter 6700 RPM
Speed Limiter 200.00 MPH
Speed Limiter Hysteresis 3.50 MPH
Vehicle Speed Threshold for LC/FFS 12.00 MPH

Your mileage may vary.

Ive seen videos of Subaru's with ffs and when they press the clutch the rpms hit the ffs rev limiter then shift. I tried finding videos of mazdaspeed's using ffs and they seem to not hit the ffs limiter like the way the Subaru does. Just sounds like a shift without the "woosh" of the bpv with no ffs limiter hitting.

I'm kind of stuck with the inability to play with my LC/FFS limiter cause i have a freek OTS+ map thats locked.

If your tune isn't set up for it that's what your doing wrong.

Another issue I have with locked tunes...

The tune is set up for LC/FFS. 2800rpm LC and 5300rpm FFS. Ive tested both and from a stop the LC hits 2800rpm limiter and while moving with clutch pedal in the rev limiter is 5300rpms. Do any e-tuners do unlocked tunes?

What are you doing that you need to FFS so badly?

Just trying to get my best time's. I'm just curious why I'm having trouble with things not working with something simple as a rev limiter.

For FFS to work, you need to be changing gears above the FFS RPM limit, not below. Accelerate at WOT past the 5300rpm threshold, then do it. If your accelerator pedal is even a little bit off the floor and your TPP isn't wide-open, the limiter won't kick in. You shouldn't slow down your shifts at all (you mentioned that "Subarus hit the FFS limiter and then shift" but that's not correct. Just go WOT -> rip the clutch/gear -> engage clutch, all without lifting the gas pedal at all.

Vehicle Speed Threshold for LC/FFS - Check the speed you have in this table and make sure you going faster than this when you are attempting to use FFS. The other thing as stated earlier is the FFS is intended to bring the RPM down to the FFS limiter from where you are shifting which should be above 6K. If you are doing this and it is still not working then we might need you to post up the map you are using so we can take a look.

Would a lower FFSrpm work better? I usually try to shift around 6k. Maybe I'm chickening out a little and lifting a little bit, ill be sure to try it again. My car just seems so weird like when i drive and shift normal it feels like i get such drastic rev hang. With the a/c or heat on it feels like the flywheel lost some weight and the rpms fall quicker.

Anyone else have that sort of feel?

I'm using a OTS+ map from freek and the map is locked. Ive tried before with OTS maps off the AP before i had my 3 port ebcs and still seemed like i couldn't get it to work.

RPM's will fall faster with A/C on because the compressor with the clutch engaged is rotational resistance. It shouldn't be drastic or even enough to notice I would think but I have never really paid attention to that. The revs do hang on this car a little bit, I think it's because the stock flywheel is pretty heavy. I would need to dig up a thread about it, but I remember reading a long time ago that it has to do with the flywheel. The Cobb OTS maps set the LC/FFS limiters to the actual rev limiter, that would explain why you couldn't use them with Cobb OTS.

Sorry, i should have clarified that a bit better, I would load up the OTS maps and go in to access tuner race and set up LC/FFS. I believe i just looked it up being a 28lb flywheel, that is one hefty girl.
