Rattle's still there - perhaps even a bit louder but pressure is still fine. I think I have around 40000 km or close to it on the pump - have to check my records.

Yup mine rattles at tip in, and is much louder when its cold outside. Have about 15k miles on them and still fine. It is annoying though, I hate squeaks and rattles.

Mine does this too (KMD internals). Had it since April/May. Haven't noticed any drop in fuel pressure or additional wear.

My pump is loud as hell (CP-E) and seems to have gotten louder @ tip in since I went back to 93 octane.

Still holding excellent pressure ~ 7500 miles.

Does anyone with the rattle have inj seals?

My 3 rattles on tip in too, but i'm 90% sure it's the seals. Under moderate load, it almost sounds like a loose bolt in the engine bay somewhere. I helped @hamptotl diagnose it on his car a while back, and it ended up being extremely worn seals.

Just curious if there is a link.

I have the rattle but no injector seals. Ive been thinking about hooking up the chassis ears to verify.

Some of the noise could be seals, but I noticed this distinct throttle tip in clacking immediately (like the first 10 feet) after I installed my pump.

It is noticeably louder in the cold though.

@djuosnteins What you described about sounds like VVT to me brother. We have had to locals have VVT go out and it sounded horrible at startup and for a few seconds after it. Cruise arund under any sort of "tip in" it sounded pretty bad.

The rattle that people are talking about at tip in doesnt sound to me to be the same as what I had. It may be and I am not reading it right but with my situation as you recall. Min wasnt heard at all any other time until I went WOT and between the 3800rpm plus range. It would then hold it there all the way to redline. Best way to describe that sound... sounded like a turbo stud blowing around in the TMIC or like a bolt beating around in the DP.

Good luck with your journeys though bro, and I may not be near as gangster with this shit as you but if there is anything I can help with man let me know.

Just adding to the already known. Autotech internals @ 5000 miles. Started clacking almost immidiately, and have been chirping/squeaking on first start-up in the cold.

Fuel pressure is perfect. Running E blend, wanted to rule that out as the cause.

just sharing: i have stock internals (afaik.. bought used w/ 28k..) and mine rattle on light throttle, around 2 or 3k rpm. my fp is great, peaking at 1700 and i've had no other issues other than the noise.

it has gotten louder over the last year.. when i had my local tech listen to it before i knew what it was, he thought it was a loose heat shield. ha!

Still rollin on my PTP internals. They have been rattling since day one after install. Stock pump, car has 50k miles on her, approx 6k miles on the internals, still holds 1800 like a champ. The noise has gotten gradually louder, and I'm about to take it off for the first inspection this weekend. I will record the sound and take pictures of the follower.

I just started getting this noise last week on my car. Currently on 2nd set of autotech internals. If the car is cold I get the said noise, once it warms up it seems to go away.

YES. My tech said that too.

To be clear, my noise is definitely the FP. It began directly after the install. This weekend I took everything apart and could see no visible wear on the inside of the fuel pump or in the concavity where the fuel pump seats up to the engine. Same goes for the internals themselves. I did see some visible wear on the back side of the button the retainer washer is connected to (caused by the spring rubbing) as well as some on interface between the spring and piece that screws into the pump (caused by the other end of the spring rubbing) This leads me to believe the shaft is being pushed out of the pump until the spring is loose. Then the spring is maybe rattling around in there? There's no visible wear on the spring itself. If I could get my TIH off, it would make all of this MUCH easier and I would've done it twice, once with the stockers to see if the noise persisted.

I'll post pics tonight. Work computer just pissed its pants.

My internals also rattle when cold but stop after the engine has warmed up, or atleast quiet down a bunch.

here we go. See those wear marks? I don't know if these were there after the initial disassemble or not. Anyway, they are smooth to the touch and seem to be more 3D looking in this picture than they actually are. Any thoughts?

So we took my spill valve off my car and put it on zlatans car and the noise is gone. PUt his back in and the noise comes back. There is no doubt in my mind its the spill valve guys. Atleast in this car. I took it out to clean it the week before the noise came and its done it every day since then. I seen no wear and its not that bad. Like dJ said just turn the music up. LOL

We're still discussing this? Normal, it's a high pressure pump and it's not radial or centrifugal...its going to be noisy. Plus at tip in there is probably slight cavitation going on causing more noise. This is especially true when you have large delta pressure differentials.

Guess should hear positive displacement pumps when they start cavitating...clackety clackety clack. So loud you'd think it's metal metal contact, but not the case at all.

same here, i didnt know what that noise was untill this thread. it only happens when slightly pressing the gas and turning the steering wheel. have had my autotech internals ( stock pump ) since the beginning of last year if not longer. way more than 5k miles.

I am so happy that it is not only mine Mine started making that sound, as same as @Lex 's, when I tip or turn the wheel. And it have noticed that it is when the fuel pressure get increase and the noise is only then. I have had the AutoTech internals for about ~1000 milles. So I guess it is something normal and should not worry about it.

Lex, thanks for starting this thread, eventhough it was such a long time ago.

This.....Exactly this for me....every word of it. The same bird chirp on start up, sounds a fuckin bird chirp for a split second. and this tip in clack, it almost sounded like an exhaust leak ....
But yea, autotechs with 2k miles on them. 0 problems, perfect fuel pressure. Car runs great.
Terrible gas mileage from heavy foot.

First time I listened to the sound clip and my pump makes the same noise. 16k miles on my autotechs. Pressure holds as normal.

The tip in rattle can be quieted down somewhat with manipulating the pressure ramp up but it is still a little audible
