I'm not saying you did, but if yours was unusually loud then maybe it would be a good idea to take it apart and double check. I think for the most part everyone's pump is audible in the cabin if you know what to listen for. Go to a dealer and see how loud one of their cars are so you have an idea of how loud it should be.

It's a very brief (less than a second) rattle/vibration type noise that occurs when you tip the throttle pedal in. If you are driving at a constant speed, no noise. As soon as you push the pedal down, brief rattle.

It's something to do with the brief spike in increased pressure. At least, that's what my DeVry degree in Mazdaneering tells me.

This is normal for my autotechs as well.

I can hear it when i am idling with the AC on. Every time that the AC compressor clutch kicks on. I get the quick rattle at this sudden change of idle RPM.

I have the rattle too, but seemed to have solved it with my new exhaust! LOL

Not the best advice, but sometimes I like to think if I can't hear it, it ain't happening!

What's funny is, the noise has been around for a while now for me. Yet, i only get this sense of doom and fear when coincidentally my bank account funds are low.

When they're high, I don't have this feeling.

I wonder if it's correlated in some way?

currently, i am in severe fear and sky-is-falling mode.

Mine only does it when start up on cold starts. Theres first a slight rattle then goes away but then like 5 seconds later it comes back and rattles for like 3-4seconds. I check my fuel pressure all the time and its fine. Also i notice it does it worse when its colder. Ive had my KMDs in for about 13-14months now.

I've made the observation that different oils change some of the sounds the pump makes.

Using M1 0w-40 the pump was always quite loud. Using M1 5w-40 TDT the rattles and other shit from the pump have quieted substantially.

No clue why, but it has.

Been running KMD internals for 2 years now and 30k miles. Still no issues.

Everytime I feel better about my Autotechs rattling I stumble over an older post that makes me go...what?

So let me ask one question.

Does everyone who has this rattle, agree that the rattle goes away if driving at a constant speed?

I've made the same observation. I ran M1 5w30 exclusively up until I jumped on the T6 bandwagon a few months ago and after the switch my pump rattle was much, much louder. This last change I went to PU 5w30 and the pump is whisper quiet again. I thought I was crazy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but apart from the lobe at the very end of the camshaft, the HPFP doesn't receive any oil...?

I think my autotech internals have started rattling. At first I thought it was the VVT but the sound is loudest around the cdfp. The sound started as it got colder outside. When I first start the car its almost like a metal on metal sqeeling sound followed by a knocking sound. It only lasts until car is warmed up. Fuel pressure is fine. Does this sound normal?

I don't know enough at this point to give any real advice. At this point my goals are to learn as much as I can and report on things that happen after my upgrades.

Since my internals were put in they have been very audible. This happens at tip in and also while maintaining a constant speed. To be accurate, at a constant speed they are not as loud as they are at tip in, but still annoying.

The tip in rattle is the same warm or cold. However, the rattle during steady cruising is somewhat worse when cold.

I don't know if this helps you or not, but when I start mine up in the morning it is like a factory vehicle. I don't have any rattling beyond what would be normal. Also, anytime at idle, warm or cold, the pump sounds fine.

Fuel pressure holding is not a bad thing, that much I can say!

I am running T6 with autotechs and noticed the tip in rattle since I installed them(thought it was something else and stumbled on this thread). Power is 100%, noise is only on throttle blip, and pressure is 100%. Should I deal with it? Me likey T6 and reading this eases my mind but makes me want to go to Penzoil :/

I have had my internals in for couple years with the tip in rattle, only noticeable when outside the vehicle and hood is up. I have double checked for wear and haven't found anything remarkable. Pressure is good no problems. I have installed them on a few cars and they too have the tip in rattle as well. Everyone is good so far. It's been 1-2 years of running their internals with no problems. I just keep an eye on FP as a part of my daily log checks.

Guess should hear positive displacement pumps when they start cavitating...clackety clackety clack. So loud you'd think it's metal metal contact, but not the case at all.
See above post.
