getting new transmission mount

Ok, so, long story short, I want to replace the transmission mount in my MS3. Before you all jump down my throat, YES, I have searched on this extensively.

I'm looking at both the TRZ mount and the PT-P mount. My question is: which one is generally considered the superior piece? I haven't seen many reviews of the PT-P mount, but I have read multiple positive reviews of the TRZ piece. What's the general opinion?

i've had both.
at 3000 rpm on decel, i had weird vibes and noises with the ptp.
nothing like that with the trz. trz holds up well.
ptp mount is good too.

trz all the way. liked it on my car and the vibrations didn't bother me.

trz is bullet proof. the only failure i know of was when someone messed up the install and put the metal washer below the mount instead of between the mount and bolt.

vibes aren't bad. you get more of buzz that shifts from the dash to the pedals. you'll hear the tranny more too.

Ok guys, I went ahead and ordered the TRZ. I'll post up some impressions once I get it installed. Thanks for the input!

i ran the trz for 3 months and eventually the ridiculous vibes and resonance during decel made me insane so i put the stocker back on. Maybe you will be different though, but i was very happy when i put the stock piece back on.

Go with the ptp although the TRZ is an excellent mount the aluminum bracket is a piece of crap

JoshProtegeGarage 04-07-2010 07:05 PM

good way to look at it, is you wanna build the foundation first which would be puttting in PG's wonderful TRZ trans mount, the ptp mount is kinda a extra mount for better traction, so always work on the foundation first, shucks you missed my GB on them for 80 shipped :(

Just so you know you will have gear wine now....can be much for some and awesome for others, i love it on my 3, the speeds is louder for obvious reasons but just a heads up!

I love it. The whine, the clicking of the gears, everything. I've been driving a lot without the radio too.

should be alot smoother engagement into gears, its all in all a 10/10 part, please feel free to leave feedback on the site for others interested in it.
