yes, I once built a 427 for my luv truck (1st engine) , steel crank and rods tried a 225 shot at the track and instant see-through block at 7800rpm courtesy of #2 rod.

live and learn to NOT cut corners.

usually the rod breaks, causing the engine to be rebuilt. i havent seen it the other way around.

ive been pounding on my built engine and it loves it.

Dyno'd at 355whp on the stock exhaust and im runnin 125hp worth of nitrous.

I think MrLilGuy was the only one to blow a built motor and it was due to a defect in the piston.

dynoed 355 and have yet to hit that number again. I wish you lucky, but i have a feeling your recent cutting is not the battery cable.

The reason i havent hit that dyno number again is because the only other dynos i have done were testing a manifold that obviously had a design issue. My car was not the only car that dyno'd lower on that manifold.

I havent gone back to the dyno yet because i had alot of different ends to tie up with the car. Youll see me dyno very soon.

it cost me about $1800-2000, dont even consider trying to do it for less.

Rods/pistons alone are gonna be at least $1250, then you need all your bearings, head studs, main studs, gaskets, machine work, etc...

I thought the same thing when it started cutting. I initially thought it was fuel cut, because thats what it felt like. So I figured with the 125 jets i was taxing the low pressure fuel system too much. I made another pass with the nitrous off, and thats when i realized i was losing electrical power when it would happen. started poking around and my battery cable that was behind the heatshields was all kinds of fucked up...

you think i havent used the nitrous? it hasnt cut once until the battery cable was an issue.

all the cuts except for the fuel pressure drop are gone. so if that not an issue, which it shouldnt be, i should be good to go.

like i said, its just a hunch. Have you used the nitrous for full 1/4 pulls on the street? over and over again? 0 issues?

I have, 40-140, ive gone through 2 tanks now... pretty much one on a 55shot, and one on a 125shot.

zero fueling issues. only issues ive had were boost control (corrected via larger wastegate) and my battery cable, for which i admit (read track day didnt go so well thread) was my own fault.
