heavy duty clutch cylinder I just installed an ACT clutch kit and at the second ride, the slave cylinder went out. Is it just a matter of wear on it or even if i replace it for an oem, it may broke again and again because of the added pressure ? |
i do not recall anyone finding a stronger one and it could occur again. it had been suggested by one member to install a spacer/nut between the fork and slave to prevent it from over extending. I have had to replace my slave with my Spec clutch already once but have not had an issue since. it has also been said Mazda updated the slave to prevent this issue. there is not real definitive answer on this as far as i know. |
Thanks, good to know that it's not just my car but for the mazda improved part do i have to order a specific number ? If you have it or someone else, i will appreciate because around here you have to know very well what you want at Mazda dealer. Just imagine, i got a seal for 5speed tranny after ordering for my speed3 and they were trying to sell me a full transmission casing to get 1 part of a shaft bearing etc... So if i come again and ask for new design of slave cyl without a part # i may get an ABS pump... I noticed that the pedal seem to push sooner to the pp than before with ACT kit, i didn't change anything else. I was planning to check pedal rod lengt and make it shorter. For the pressure, i will check if there could be a way to extend the geometry a little bit to reduce the force needed to push the fork. I'M thinking of puting a shim behind the slave cyl. and solder something to extend the fork lenght a little too. This would reduce the movement and pressure needed...I don't know yet, how i will figure this out but i will check it... |

people seem to have this issue the most with the ACT kits, i believe it has a custom throw out bearing and is different than OEM As far as part number this was so long ago the old design wont exist anymore. its the same part number except at the end it said B for version B, i have seen B and C. Slave: B37F41920B this exact part number may have been replaced again by an updated part number but this is the Slave part# A google search lead me to these other part numbers B37F41920B ; B37F-41-920; B37F-41-920A; B37F41920; B37F41920A You can see the B at the first number thats the one you want. i think a C may also exist cant confirm. but the only inventory at any dealer should all be B+ at this point http://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/pr...37F41920B.html http://onlinemazdaparts.com/parts/20...AVE%20CYLINDER |
manny thanks! |
Bought the new design with an aluminium that is plastic coated but it was very similar as my 2007 oem without the coating...I also found the old one to have a broken seal and a scratch on the cyl wall. The new one feel smoother Jobber can have a cast iron model for speed6 that use a different hose fitting at half the price but it seem to be smaller in diameter size so a smaller piston may result in more load on the pedal...i didn't tried it as i didn'T want to change the hose. didn't check for modification yet as my backup car (3 GS) got a caliper stuck at the same time :( so i was in a hurry to put the speed back on the roead to drive to the job but i will look at it for sure. |
