E4Performance 01-13-2010 05:39 PM

fisch, as I said to you in PM, make sure to adjust the knob down to eliminate that gap.

Quality seems pretty good, there was a slight chip in the top but I would blame that on fedex(box wasn't in the best condition).

I haven't really had a chance to drive with it but going through the gear in neutral seemed a-lot smoother than my TWM(probably because this is like 200grams heavier..) I'll let you know how I feel more tomorrow after the morning commute

EDIT:
I adjusted the knob (thought it was down all the way but it wasn't) and it fit perfectly against the boot. Seems to sit better than my TWM did.

JBR 01-13-2010 07:14 PM

OK guys....Just got off the phone with Fedex. Mine should be here tomorrow. I will install, photograph and post them on my site. Should be up by around 8PM CST.

Sorry for the delay.

Thanks,
Jamie

HLR Element 01-13-2010 07:35 PM

no complaints from me, shipping can be a PITA sometimes, and we haven't exactly been having the greatest weather the past few weeks... Thanks for keeping us updated, and i look forward to your pics, and fisch, you're comments on the driving experience!

daafisch 01-14-2010 07:58 AM

Alright after my morning commute I got to say I really like it. Looks good installed, feels good and it helped smooth out my shifts a little more. If I had a shifter weight installed I'm sure it would be even better. It also didn't feel as cold as my other knob, but I attribute that to this being powdercoated.

Tonight.

OK guys....The knobs are lost, tracking indicates they've been delivered just not to me. I have spoken with Fedex and they have a trace on them.

Anyway, I know you guys have been waiting too long so the special for the black knob, it's online and the knobs will ship direct from E4 until I get this delivery worked out.

www.jamiesplanet.com/specials

I stole daafisch's pic for the special. Thanks daafisch!

Sorry for the hassle guys. Sometimes things are just beyond our control.

Thanks,
Jamie

E4Performance 01-17-2010 07:40 PM

They are spacers to put inside the knob to adjust the height. I have not created install directions for the knob yet but I will as soon as I can.

Thanks,
Jamie

it only takes a few minutes to install...especially with an SRI on your car.

HLR Element 01-19-2010 06:00 PM

yea, i was looking at it... doesn't seem difficult at all, but i need to make sure i don't end up with a car without a shifter linkage when i need to get to school to take my midterm hahah

The knobs yes, the shift plate no. I have a shift plate for the MS6 coming soon.

Jamie

HLR Element 01-20-2010 12:08 PM

hmm... so i installed everything i got, except for one shifter bushing... idk how the hell you're suppose to get to it so o well... I loved the stock feel with bushings, then i put on the SSP. Not so sure about it yet, definitely shorter. And i did a real quick fine tuning, but there's this kinda odd springy feel to it... i might not've tightened the weight down enough? Should i crush that washer till it's flat and not that off sided circle?

JBR 01-20-2010 12:29 PM

Just tighten it until the washer is flat like any other lock washer. There is no need to get crazy on it.

I have no idea what "Should i crush that washer till it's flat and not that off sided circle? " means.

It will take a couple of weeks to get adjusted to the short shifter, it's a significant change especially since you added the bushings too.

I assume the bushing you could not change was the front left? If so get back in there remove the 3 bolts then tilt the shifter cage towards the drivers side of the car to clear the shifter cable and remove that bolt and swap out the bushing.

Doing a quick adjustment on the shifter is not what I would recommend. Wait until your knob arrives and then take your time and make micro adjustments. It will be great.

I'm here if you need help.

Jamie

haha, i forgot what that kind of washer was called... but i'll need to go take a look again and make sure it's flat. And yea, it was the front left, other were real easy haha. Maybe over the weekend i'll try it, kinda don't want to take the entire console out on a car still new right now.

I figured a quick tuning wasn't what you'd suggest but i moved it a bit to make first feel a bit better for now... just gotta wait for the knob like you said. Thanks for all you help. When the knob comes in i'll get pictures and everything.

HLR Element 01-23-2010 09:52 AM

Got the knob in the mail... damn the thing is heavy haha
Installed it without any spacers and i have to say, it feels great. The combo together with SSP and bushings is amazing. The odd feeling when i had just the SSP on when shifting is completely gone now. I'll make a new post with a review and some pics soon. Feels like the stock smoothness now just a much shorter throw. Amazing!

blkspeed307 01-23-2010 03:45 PM

Just got my jbarone stage 1 ss kit and e4 shifter knob powdercated black. Install of ss kit took about 15 min everything when smooth. When jbarone says the shifts are decreased by 30% I personally think it's more compared to stock. Man the shifts are so close now had a big ass grin:bigok: after install. Now for the shifter nob. Man this thing is nice and HEAVY as hell. After install of nob shifting is even smoother and easier of course it feels like it was 4X as much as factory nob. Now if someone can tell me how to post pics from my cell phone that would help alot.
But all in all great products and great combo def. Recommend them

thanks Jamie and E4
