Never new how crappy the shifting was until I put shift kit and nob from e4 in. Best money and mod I have done to the car to date.
thanks again to E4 and Jbarone for their quality products:smlove2: The perfect combo

Glad to hear you like the combo. E4 and I work hard at making quality parts at an affordable price. Come back and see us.

FYI...The addition of the short shift plate reduces the throw by 38.5%

Thanks,
Jamie

HLR Element 01-25-2010 09:45 AM

^ will do, it's pouring outside right now though... end of the day i should have some up for you

E4Performance 01-25-2010 09:47 AM

I'm glad the response has been this good.

I want to open it back up to options for our next knob.

tbot 01-25-2010 10:05 AM

I understand that the "round" style knob won't be able to end up being as heavy, but TWM does have some heavy ass round knobs (and not to compare, just throwing that out there). I would be really interested in a round one. Just my .02

Are you talking about a ball style?

jack_hammer 01-25-2010 10:18 AM

what about a tapered knobb?

Yeah sorry...my bad, I guess depending on how you look at it all of the are round lol, but yes I was referring to the "ball" style.

nyghtryder 01-25-2010 07:55 PM

What about a stock style knob, I love the stock knob but if I could get it heavy that would be great.

1. The current knob is very close in feel to stock in terms of shape.

2. See my last post ;)

HLR Element 01-25-2010 08:05 PM

I think trying to make it a shape that could provide more grip would be nice. It being metal and powder coated makes it a bit slippery. One up shift my hand just completely slipped off and i stared at my hand for a good 5 sec wondering wtf just happened haha

nyghtryder 01-25-2010 08:08 PM

powder coat wrinkle black, it will give it some grip, yet not feel like sand paper.

Our knobs are powdercoated, so they don't get as hot either.

And there's a HUGE difference between 300 grams and 600+

amoosenamedhank 02-17-2010 01:10 PM

Do you have any photos of the black powdercoated knob with out the engraving installed yet?

tbot 02-17-2010 01:30 PM

I think once Jamie gets a SSP for the speed6 I'll jump on this and get the combo deal. Just throwing that out there as to why I've held off.

Looks exactly the same, just no numbers. Everything else is identical.

I will have installed pics next week when the batch I have coming to me arrives.

Thanks,
Jamie

BolvangaR 02-20-2010 08:35 PM

Received my knob today and it looks and feels great! However, upon installation, the darn thing would NOT screw down enough to eliminate the gap so I backed it out.... and off came the knob but left behind was the threaded insert. Now I need to figure out how to get that thing off the shifter without ruining the threads, then I figure I'll grease/oil it so it will screw down all the way.

The reason I'm posting this is because the knowledge of what happened to me might be useful to others. Also, I could be doing something wrong so it wouldn't hurt to post my issue. I still have no clue what the long, flat, thin piece of metal is for.

E4Performance 02-21-2010 12:45 PM

There's a secondary nut inside the shifter that is the stopnut. Using the flat tool provided, remove the secondary stopnut inside the shifter. Then try again.

Thanks. That should do it. The threaded part that came out will only go down so far because the top part isn't threaded, so I have to remove the nut inside the nob with the tool? I'll give it a try.

edit: Ok, taking out the stopnut worked. Please excuse my ignorance, I'm new to this.

i had the same problem, i moved the stop nut thing but if i want to take the knob off it always leaves that threaded part behind and i need to get a wrench to take it off... annoying but how often do you need to take the knob off

raterry 02-21-2010 06:22 PM

Short shift plate with the shift knob yet for the speed6? I apologize if I missed something in this thread but I don't see it on the jbarone site.

Aetherfury 03-13-2010 08:58 PM

I forgot to post pics of mine installed. Thanks E4 & JBarone

What about a ball shape? That seems the next easiest useful shape to machine. A very useful shape. If you could finish it like the TWM knob, it would be great. After nearly a year, my TWM knob still looks brand new.

jack_hammer 03-17-2010 11:53 PM

black knob ordered!
