The thing is if my rings were fubar'd would the problem I'm having not be present the entire time and not just when the car is cold? I'm going to wait to put in the new coil pack before I start trying anything else. And I'm keeping an eye on the F/S section for an AP to come along.

.002 isn't an issue on the old plugs. There isn't a MF'r in here that that can see/feel that difference. I was thinking the plugs opened their gap is all

Thats what I was thinking, which leads me to believe it wasn't a spark plug issue. But seeing as there is still a weak spark, it could be an ignition coil problem. We'll see when the new one comes in.

Just saying that the difference between the suggested gap of .028 and the gap on his old plugs was 25%.

I'm not sure how strong our ignition system is, but I was thinking that maybe that could be enough to burn up a coil.

I saw a few for sale on here a while back. Sure beats $120 new from the dealer.

Good point @smoogs12

Regapping the plugs to 0.028 tonight and putting a new ignition coil in as well and we'll see if that works. Cobb Accessport is also going to get ordered today to monitor what is going on.

I can't find one in the VIP section and I can't really afford to wait much longer...so I'll pick one up from one of the vendors here. So full price is what I'll be paying too I guess.

I love my car, but I'm not sure if I can keep putting money into it like this

It's a labour of love my friend... go with Edge Autosport, they'll hook you up for that AP.

New ignition coil in, plugs re-gapped to 0.029.

Problem still there....accessport has been ordered...

Someone please help...car will be going in again for compression test, vacuum test, TPS, and computer diagnostic.

Edit: problem is actually getting worse and happening when engine is warm. Seem's to happen under high engine load.

Bad O2 sensor would give a rough idle and constant problems though. Not only when cold. Accessport is on the way so thats good news. I also went through and checked all the lines and clamps on the intake side of the turbo and installed my inlet pipe at the same time. No change when the car is cold, but holy crap when the car warms up the turbo is noisy haha.

Can someone chime in on the possibility of short and long term fuel trims relative to the problem? I'm don't know much about tuning to understand that yet.

Had mazda look at it, they agreed it was an electrical problem *facepalm* I checked my MAF sensor again and it was dirty, cleaned it with MAF sensor cleaner, seems to be better however the problem is still there. Although the PROBLEM HAS CHANGED!!!!

The problem is still the stutter, however this ONLY OCCURS AT 3100rpm now.

Idea's? Accessport should be here this week.

UPDATE

Problem had been solved, a completely new fuel pump + internals were installed and the car runs flawlessly now. Unfortunitely, I am not able to say for sure if it was the spill valve, internals, or the pump entirely that failed (cause everything was changed at the same time). Either way, replacing everything solved the problem.

Thanks to everyone who helped diagnose the problem, aquire parts, and install them. Alot more money would have been spent without you guys.
