If Mazda is warrantying it then they will want the transmission back.. Not sure how aftermarket warranties work in that respect though.

My first spare motor was bought from a guy who knew a guy......

My buddy knew this guy who worked at mazda.... and would intentionally try to get mazda to replace motors, then sell the old motors on the side. Or some jazz like that.

At one point, i guess he needed money bad, and had a DISI he couldn't move... so he offered it to my buddy for ridiculously cheap. He asked me if he should buy it, and i said... without a doubt! Fast forward a few months, he got a nice VW and sold the speed... and sold me the spare motor... (for slightly more than he paid, but still ridiculously cheap). I drove out and picked it up that next weekend lol.

Turns out the motor was swapped cause of a blown k04. It was a complete long block with 90% of the accessories, and intake mani, exhaust mani, blown k04 and some other stuff. Soon it will be assembled and installed into my car lol.

So i know technically they're supposed to give it back to mazda, but it's not always the case.

Yeah I was just going from my brief job working as a Ford tech. I didn't get high enough to start slingin engines on the side though.

I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get a new clutch since they SHOULDN'T charge much labor considering they will already be in there... I've had an issue described here.... Disengage Clutch, Clickity-Clank-Click? To sum it up, seems it may be the throw out bearing

What you guys think? go ahead and replace it? or wait til it breaks and pay $1100 for the clutch later?
